Exceptional Contributor

Ben Pleysier picture

Name:
Ben Pleysier
Contributor since: 2007

Born in the Netherlands, Ben moved to Australia as a young boy with his parents. He completed an Industrial Engineering course at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology before deciding to retrace his heritage in Europe. His overseas stint lasted 17 years, slightly longer than the anticipated 1 year. In this time, he married and became a two time Dad. More than 30 years ago, Ben and family decided to relocate (back) to Melbourne.

Now, in his third youth, Ben has been retrained as a web developer. His long time hobby tinkering with self-built computers and programming in Assembly, Pascal, and Benton Harbour Basic had given Ben a great understanding of what needed to be done as a web developer.

Dreamweaver, Fireworks, ColdFusion and MS-Access played a great part in his early web development projects. Some of these projects included online courses for Quality, OHS and Waste Management compliance. At the moment, Ben is preoccupied with learning different frameworks – YII2, Bootstrap and Foundation just to name a few – and learning CSS compilers like LESS and SASS.

Ben’s great secret, which he prefers no one knows about, is that he is design (as in graphics) blind; but adds that Fireworks helps to camouflage the handicap.
