What is provisioned for a CQ cloud on Amazon EC2?

Mar 16, 2012 12:24 PM

By default all CQ clouds are created in Amazon EC2 US-East region with 1x Dispatcher, 1x Publish node and 1x Author node, with the following specifications:

  1. Dispatcher: this is an EC2 small instance launched from an EBS-AMI (ami-5624d63f, 8GB) with no additional storage attached. The Dispatcher only uses the instance ephemeral storage since it is used for load balancing across Publish nodes and for caching all static content.
  2. Publish node: this is an EC2 small instance launched from an EBS-AMI (ami-5624d63f, 8GB) with a 20GB EBS attached. CQ is installed on the persistent EBS storage in the /mnt/crx folder. The instance ephemeral storage is currently not used.
  3. Author node: this is an EC2 small instance launched from an EBS-AMI (ami-5624d63f, 8GB) with a 20GB EBS attached. CQ is installed on the persistent EBS storage in the /mnt/crx folder. The instance ephemeral storage is currently not used.
  4. Backups: they are triggered using CQ backup feature, then copied automatically on S3 using your Amazon credentials. Note that backups are not encrypted at this time and are not using EBS snapshots.

At this time, you do not have the option to choose the region, an instance type or EBS size for each CQ cloud.
