Problems with live application & FMLE 3

Jan 21, 2009 2:11 AM

If we try to restrict access by editing the allowedHTMLdomains.txt and allowedSWFdomains.txt files, FMLE returns the following error when we click on 'Connect':

------------------------
Problem with primary server

Failure to connect to primary server. Please verify that your URL and application name are valid and that your Internet connection is working and retry.
------------------------

As soon as we switch allowedHTMLdomains.txt and allowedSWFdomains.txt back to wildcard (*), everything works fine and no errors.

FME 2.5 worked just fine, this error occurs with FMLE 3 only.

Any ideas?

    Bokakb,

There is a small issue with live application. This would be fixed in later releases of FMS. Meanwhile to get FMLE 3 to work with FMS live application, you can follow this workaround :-

1.Create the backup of the content present in folder {FMS-Install-Dir}/applications/live. Then delete all the content present in folder {FMS-Install-Dir}/applications/live.
    2. Copy all files from {FMS-Install-Dir}/samples/applications/live to to the existing folder,
    {FMS-Install-Dir}/applications/live
    3. Now open main.asc file you had copied from {FMS-Install-Dir}/samples/applications/live in any text editor, preferably in Flash Professional if you have one.
    4. Search for line "p_client.agent.indexOf("FME")==-1" present in function application.onConnect and replace it with "p_client.agent.indexOf("FME")==-1 && p_client.agent.indexOf("FMLE")==-1"
    5. Save the main.asc file.
    6. Restart your FMS server. Now you will be able to connect to FMS live application using FMLE, even if you make changes to allowedHTMLdomains.txt and allowedSWFdomains.txt.

    I hope this helps.

I fear you have to wait for a while. Sorry, but I cannot provide you the file as such.

Yes, it exists with FMS 3.5 as well.

You can try doing this. This might help.
    1. Revert all the changes you have done in allowedHTMLdomains.txt and allowedSWFdomains.txt.
    2. Trying changing the <allow> tag in vhost.xml present at {FMS-Install-Dir}\conf\_defaultRoot_\_defaultVHost_ to the domains you want your users to restrict.
    3. Restart FMS.

This will work only if domain of fms server is also included in the allowed domain names.

Please let me know if this works for you

If you get the interactive edition of FMS 3.5, you will be able to use the workaround that i mentioned in my first reply though.

Are you using Flash Media Streaming Server ??

With Streaming Server, you are not allowed to create application, and could be the reason of the problem you are facing.

New applications can be created on Flash Media Interactive server and Flash Media development server.
