Vista AIR install woes

Well, unable to install AIR 1.5 on a Vista 32 system. No existing version exists and searching for the old registry keys shows nothing. Registry is regularly cleaned of old rubbish. No old AIR directories around.

I run as administrator for the machine.

When installing, AIR simply tells me "An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."

The log gives :

Performing runtime install
UI SWF load is complete
UI initialized
starting user confirmation
Installation type: new
starting elevated install
Launching elevated sub-installer failed
runtime install entering error state: [ErrorEvent type="error" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Launching elevated sub-installer failed" errorID=5100]
begin quitting

Ideas anyone?

    Hmm .. might anyone know a solution?

    Seems like AIR is really not ready for prime time when it has more than it's fair share of install woes. This issue appears quite prevelant is google is anything to go by.

    As both a developer and end-user, I have been distinctly put off testing AIR as a platform if my experience is even remotely reflected by others.
