Deactivate button greyed out

I had to replace my motherboard and I need to re-install the OS.

I have registered Acrobat 8 Pro and it was activated, but since a recent update the deactivate button is greyed out. I have tried the repair function and tried to re-register but it has not helped.

I have had this problem before and the only solution I have found is to un-install the app, re-install the app and then apply the updates before registering and re-activating but the problem with this is obvious. I had the same issue with V7 pro.

This is a massive pain. Any other suggestions?

I need to re-install a dual-boot OS because of the new motherboard that has left the OS in BSOD mode, so I've used my two activation.

Bernd: Thank you, you nailed it, seems weird though.

I've used Acrobat since you had to virtually code things to make it work. Considering its ubiquitenous you think that this would be their best app always.

This process is insane and customer service is just about zero help. It boggles the mind that there isn't a way for Adobe Customer Service to delete the previous activations of the product. What a horrible design for their licensing system!
