I am using CS4 on a Mac running Snow Leopard 10.6.1.
Using Illustrator, each time I export to pdf, save as anything, even an ai file, often as not
it will crash. This has happened with Preview, Photoshop and Acrobat Pro.
I have trashed preference files, re opened and things have been Ok for a few saves, then
..gone again. Highly frustrating to say the least. To counteract this, I have checked all fonts,
installed all updates. I even clean scripted, re installed Creative suite, and still the same.
This all started when I installed SnowLeopard 10.6.0, and other colleagues have confirmed
the same things. I take nearly twice as long to complete a job, quitting keeps occuring
and I am hoping the next update to Snow Leopard (10.6.2) will fix this, I can only hope.
Running MacBook 13" 4gig Ram on Snow Leopard 10.6.1 CS4
Just to put my two cents in, I have only experienced a crash to desktop a couple of times, this is on a Leopard MAC OS. On my system it was Font related and I had to remove corrupt fonts and replace them with good. But my point is, was the left click causing the crash, of, or on, anything specific? Were you clicking to select, say a text element? Any and all details should be considered in the trouble shooting process.
Thanks for your 2 cents,
I have checked all fonts for corruption, all OK, no left clicking, nothing
out of the ordinary, just preference corruption (this is all I can consider,
at this stage. I can not fathom what could corrupt them, nor how to fix??
Will wait until update of Snow Leopard and hope.
