There's a plugin for Photoshop that *I think* is called "picture package". That functionality is handy for two reasons. First, it gives you this ability to have multiple sizes and shapes on one page. Second, it creates a new image which can then be saved.
Until Print has the ability to save out as a JPEG or TIFF, it's absolutely useless to me since I don't print locally.
Agreed with all of this. One feature of QImage that I use a lot is the ability to place metadata text boxes anyway on the page not just beside the image. So I sometimes place the image on one half of the sheet of paper and selected metadata on the other half of the paper. Similarly the ability to rotate the text at 90degree intervals is helpful for making things like greeting cards and business cards.
It would be nice if we could select a different template for each page instead of having to use the same one for all pages printing. That way you could design an entire album within the LR print area. If we can take the album and export, like InDesign, to either PDF, JPG, etc. it would eliminate the need for additional design software.
Yes Yes Yes
Light Room needs a fast automated and CUSTOMIZABLE package printing option that will let you export to a printer or a file to send to a photo lab.
If some one were to make a good plug in, that alone would be worth at least a hundred bucks.
Photoshop has a good one but its slow and cannot be applied quickly and easily to many photographs.
Express Digital has a perfect one.
Adobe please copy that and insert it into lightroom.
Contact sheets would be good but actual package prints in jpg form would make light room a great program for light duty school photography and on location event photography.
We need to be able to print with packages and export with packages.
I agree with the above comments. As I see it, the Print modules needs these improvement:
- Multiple images of various sizes and shapes on a single page.
- Ability to place resizable text cells (multiple) anywhere on a page. [The Identity Plate feature comes close until you try to put it on every image which causes it to lock to the center of each image.]
- Ability to change the font and location of Metadata displayed next an image
- Ability to display an Identity Plate in the Margin area (or any text object).
Essentially I should be able to create a simple book or album from the Print module with customizable text cells. I have no doubt LR has much of this already planned - it makes a lot of sense.
