PSE7 Crashes when a second file is opened in Editor

I recently installed PSE7. I can open a file in Editor, but when I attempt to open a second file (with the initial file still open), the application crashes with the message "Adobe Photoshop Elements (Editor)has stopped working". I am using Vista Business SP1.

I have followed the Adobe Technote "Troubleshoot system errors or freezes in Photoshop Elements 6.0 (Windows Vista), and nothing works, other than to use the application in a new user account. It is extremely inconvenient to switch to a new user account. Any other suggestions?

Hi Charlie,

Is this happening with a specific file or any file when it's opened with on efile already opened in Editor.

John, changing the default printer to a local printer solved the problem. What a strange situation that the default printer would cause a problem like that.
