Isolating an image

    How are you thinking you should do this? It might simply be that you are
    copying from a layer that doesn't contain the piece that you want.

    To further Jim's suggestion, make sure the image you are using the lasso tool on is the active layer. After you've completed your outline you can right-click the image and choose Layer via Cut or Layer via Copy to cut or copy your selection to a new layer.

    Can someone tell me what is the best tool in elements 7 to take a person from one photo into another?

    you can also try open your image and then duplicate it {control j } select your brush tool and set to default colors black and white. at top of screen select clear from mode. then turn off background layer and paint on layer 1 your duplicated layer. where ever you paint will turn transparent, you can make your selection this way, set opacity to 100% and brush hardness to the way you need it then open image you want to put it into,have both images open and select the move tool and drag it into the new image.with move tool still selected you can move the image around to where ever you want it in your new image. you can make adjustments to that layer also, color, opacity,brightness, etc.

    thats in pse 5 I assume 7 is the has the same mode selections
