Excellent! X marks where we'll be cheering from, almost opposite the players entrance

Anfield, home of the Mighty Reds

Best of luck with snow-clearing. Anfield and most other top UK stadiums have under soil heating to prevent the pitch freezing in the winter. It's more profitable to heat the soil than cancel the matches.

Yes, first meeting since that dreadful night in the Heysel Stadium on 29th May 1985.

The Kop were superb and the AMICIZIA display just before the kick-off was spot-on and moving.

    ] Football remembers Heysel tragedy

    > > How is your voice after such an evening?

I lost it at half time, but a few Carlsbergs after the match in "The Sandon" soon restored it

    Roger,

I would like to trade places with you. I live a within a mile from Bernabeu Stadium (Real Madrid's home) and I can only tell you how much I loathe Sundays when the play football here. I can hear-feel every roar the supporters do when a goal is made... or almost.

That said, though I am not specially interested in football, if I were, I couldn't support any other team than Real Madrid, of course :P

(It makes 9 up to now, doesn't it?)

    Exactly, so I'll take 0-0.

The latest bad news is Stevie G is injured and hasn't flown to Turin.

0-0 WAS great! A masterful defensive display!

    Liverpool ease past Juve

Bring on Chelsea (and commiserations to all the Chelsea fans who had bought flights to Turin).

Really, anything good on the tv, especially at the end of the seasons. Practically grew up in Yankee Stadium with the Yankess and Football Giants. Rangers at the Garden was great in the 1960-85 era.

Pro Basketball is a turn off now...but college is interesting especially this years NCAA. In Kansas now so devoted to KU (big flop). The KC Royals and Chiefs suck.

Tiger was great in the Masters. Bottom line anything good, close and usually for the underdog.

Not really down on soccer (football) because I think its GREAT for the kids. Adults and the pro leagues here just never cought on...

    Hi, Roger,

    > > Liverpool's tactics were excellent,

They were. And such a contrast from the bewildring pace of the first 60 minutes of the first leg. Last night they played Baros as the sole attacker with heavy midfield support for the defenders. The concentration and decisiveness was outstanding.

And what's more remarkable is that 8 senior players (Hamann, Gerrard, Josemi, Pongolle, Kewell, Kirkland, Morientes and Pellegrino) were either injured or ineligible. That's almost a team in itself.

So just think what it could have been like!

The semi-finals will be played on Wed 27th April in London and Tues 3rd May in Liverpol. That's going to be a real cracker, especially as Gerrard and Hamann should be playing.

I'm wating for my text message from Anfield to let me know when I can get my tickets.

Errr... Something like that, but without bats.

After 4 hours of auto-redial I got my tickets for the semi-final 2nd leg at Anfield. Phew!

Now let's hope those nice people in Trafford can beat the Bluenoses on Wednesday to make my week.

    > > And the 2nd leg is almost always more exciting,

Yup, at the end of it we'll know who's off to Galatasaray's stadium in Istanbul for the final.

The European Champs League and the World Cup are very different in many ways - one's club footy and the other's truly global with all 205 affiliated nations eligible

However, I haven't given next year's World Cup much attention as Wales are not going to qualify for the finals. :-(
