But it's a start. In ten years, all those kids will BE adults, plus those kids are already getting their parents interested and involved.

I shall ignore that comment with the contempt that it deserves.

Excellent! Maybe there'll be a top class league there soon too, and their best players will have a choice of home or overseas.

I'm eligible for a ticket for the Euro Cup final at £86 having attended all 7 home matches, but with flights &c to Turkey, the cost will almost £600. Each. I'm not going to be able to afford the £1,200 for my son and I to have a day trip to Istanbul. :-(

It's not exactly the chance of a lifetime as I could have gone to any of the five Champions Cup finals in 1977, 1978, 1981, 1984 and 1985. I was at the UEFA Cup finals of 1973 and 1976, but had to work on the night of the 2001 UEFA cup final. My mum said I was too young to go to the 1966 Cup-winners final in Glasgow, but I did see the home matches at Anfield.

    > > I admire AC Milan and how they can play,

AC Milan are taking it very seriously too:

    > > 48 hours until the Big Match.

Yes, the match day programmes are on sale in the City Centre already.

I've washed my red Carlsberg shirt and getting ready to leave tomorrow night just after midnight. Our flight leaves at 0700 BST from Luton and arrives in Istanbul about 1240 EET. So we'll have few hours to check out the local sights like Taksim Square before boarding the bus to the Stadium.

We leave Istanbul at 0400 EET, arrive back at Luton about 0600 BST, and with a bit of luck I'll not be too late for work!

I'm taking a pocket digital camera, so let's hope there's some good photos.

It'll be a great match and occasion for the two teenage lads with us.

Sky Sports News estimate the live TV audience will be 3 BILLION. Jeez.

That was an incredible match - Liverpool 3-0 down at half time (that's a big margin in soccer, for those who don't follow it, you're pretty much dead in the water). Championship gone, playing for pride. They pulled one back, then another and another at the beginning of the second half. Still 3-3 at full time, half an hour of extra time, still 3-3, Liverpool won on penalties. I'm almost as worn out as if I'd played :) Don't expect any sense out of John for a while!

Help, what the hell happened, you mean there was a tie and somebody (Liverpool) won because of some statistics. Sounds like Nil Nil to me. :-(

    >ISTANBUL, Turkey May 25, 2005 Liverpool won the European Champions Cup for the first time since 1984, overcoming a three-goal deficit to beat AC Milan 3-2 on penalty kicks following a 3-3 tie Wednesday night in the greatest comeback in the tournament's history.

Now I understand, penalty kicks... What ever happend to playing the game. :-(

30 seconds to plan the next move. and isn't it smarter, really to make some sort of plan than to run up and down the field endlessly while someone tries to figure out what t do? :)

That was the best final I've ever watched, even as a neutral.

Extra time was a bit flat but you can hardly blame any of the players for having run out of fuel.
