Error: unsupported compression in file?

File Import Failure (avi)?

Hi, keep getting the above error with message details "unsupported compression in file" when trying to import .avi file.

File is relatively small (25Mb) but does come from one of the Oregon Scientific headcams - could this be an issue, and if so any suggestions?

    Motion JPEG footage doesn't work well with Premiere on either PC or Mac. You absolutely should convert to QT DV in QT Pro if you have it.

    On a PC you can just buy a Motion JPEG codec. But on a Mac, natem is correct. Just use Quicktime to convert it.

    Easy (at least on a PC): just rename the file from .avi to .mpg. For more see:
