CS3 for Mac Question- Acceptable Video Formats? Not recognizing .AVIs

Mar 2, 2009 4:20 PM

Hey guys, I am running a Mac Pro and my wife got me Premiere Pro for Mac, since I use it on PC. I am able to capture video fine, but Premiere Pro CS3 does not seem to recognize the majority of files I try to import.

For example, I have a small handheld camcorder that exports .AVI files. Premiere does not accept them. Convert them to MP4 and Premiere does not accept them. Anyone have any recommendations for conversion software to make these files importable to Premiere Pro for Mac?

Thanks,

Macs generally prefer .movs ( QT)

Try QT Pro to convert avi to mov.

The camcorder is creating avi files in a codec that Premiere does not
like. Its very likely that you would have the exact problem on the
    Windows version of Premiere.

You can apparently still get Visual Hub
    http://mac.softpedia.com/progDownload/VisualHub-Download-20314.html

I suggest you do it while you can because the software has been
currently discontinued (there are some open source rebirth rumors)

Visual Hub is a lovely little converter.
