here's what happened on mine
I have reader 8.0.0
I went to
"help" (on the menu bar)
at the bottom of the help menu drop down is "Check for updates"
when I click on "Check for updates" it starts a download
hit cancel and another dialog pops up asking
what to do, the last selection on the dialog is
"cancel and cancel all future updates" or something like that
To turn off Automatic Update or you chose when to intall them, do these steps:
Click on Edit, then click on Preference (bottom of drop down menu), and screen will show one of three choice for you to check off. That should fix your issue.
