How do I Uninstall Adobe Air in Vista?

May 2, 2009 7:58 AM

We used to be able to use "Add and Remove Programs" in the contol pannel but that is no longer available in Vista.  I can find the AIR folder but of course I know there is more to it than that.  Version 1.5.0.7220.  The knowledge base has a manual uninstall for one version but the folders shown there are not present on this computer.

To Adobe -- AIR beta came with Adobe 9 by default (I do not remember being asked permission.)  Those of us who do not have a use for it need to either be asked if we want it or given an easy way to uninstall.  thx

Start --> Control Panel --> Classic View --> Programs and Features

    Without Classic View enabled:

Start --> Control Panel --> "Uninstall a Program" (below "Programs" icon)

In the list that comes up, you'll see the AIR runtime.

I'm trying to uninstall (as described above) AIR but it keeps giving me an error :

Adobe AIR Updater.exe doesn't work anymore.

This problem occured when Flex Builder crashed, now none of my .air files launch and Flex Builder won't launch air apps.

I've downloaded the latest AIR installer but that also gives the error : Adobe AIR Installer.exe doesn't work anymore.

Is it possible to manually delete/uninstall AIR from Vista?

    So I can reinstall AIR.

Download the latest AIR installer then open a cmd and type

    Airinstaller.exe -uninstall

    Sincerely,

    Michael

Try using Microsoft's free "Windows Install Clean-Up" utility.  It's the only thing that allowed me to uninstall Adobe AIR after it had somehow become corrupted.

Run that, then select any entries for "Adobe AIR" in the list of programs (I had two entries in my list), and remove them.  That should fix it!

(Someone else suggested to find Adobe Integrated Runtime in the installer clean up list and to click remove that, that it worked for them.  Personally, I didn't see Integrated Runtime in the installer clean up list.  For me, the problem was fixed by just removing the Adobe AIR entries.)

To download Windows Install Clean-Up utility, visit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301, then scroll down till you see download link.

    Hope that helps!
