Just got the announcement via twitter and was coming to post the message and saw it was already here - thanks !!

PS:  Hopefully this also addresses the issue of CS4 being such a resource hog!  had to switch back to CS3 for this very reason.. we'll soon see, going to update shortly  :-)

    Hi

I downloaded the update for windows (XP) and cannot run the set up. It says  Adobe setup has encountered a problem and needs to close every time i try.

Can't find out what the problem is. Anyone facing the same problem?

    1. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\ Installers\ .   I couldn't find a file with the specific date at this folder. (i have installed fireworks in another disk partition than C: , if that counts.)
    2. I  found the pbs file which i send to you.

I also attach a screenshot of the error message. (i'm not using english xp, sorry  )

i'll try to find a solution too, if i can

    thanks

Same, successful install on Vista and then I updated Air 1.5  :-)  - which I didn't know about previously.

Tomorrow time to test whether CS4 can last more than a few hours before coming to a screeching halt.   :-)

The update keeps failing on me. I've tried updating using Adobe Updater and the standalone updater with no success.  I get the error message: "Adobe Fireworks Cs4 10.0.3 - Failed to Install."

I'm have the student version of CS4 Web Premium on a Macbook C2 Duo with Leopard 10.5.6.

    Any suggestions?

While I haven't had a lot of time to spend with it today, so far so good. Definitely seems faster and more stable. And no new text glitches.

Thank God! I was beginning to wonder if this patch was vaporware.

I have a 30inch dell monitor on my OSX leopard Mac Pro.

since upgrading the 'use application frame is all out of whack - the image window maximises and won't resize, and some of the frame is off screen and I can't get it back.

it's also fubar'd if I open FW in a space and then try and use application frame the image stays in one space, but the frame and tool pallettes go back to the default top left space - useless.

the point I'm trying to make is that not using the application frame on a 30 inch screen is quite hard - tools are miles apart!

    it was all working...

    any one else experience this?

    tried deleting plist no help.

NB without an image it seems okay, but open or create a new image and it goes awry...

after messing about a bit with preview, 4 up etc I managed to get a view that allowed me to grab the bottom right corner and resize the frame.  it all snapped into place appropriately and it seems to be holding up after a restart and re-open recent.

I'll let you know if it breaks again....

I had the same problem on my MacBook Pro - eventually I found that turning off Little Snitch's network filter prior to running the updater allowed it to complete successfully (maybe it phones home?)

further testing reveals that it is still broken when opening files in application frame mode.

the file area goes full screen and the frame something less than that and the only guaranteed fix I have found is to drag out one of the pallettes from the frame, which then seems to turn on the resize corner, resize the frame (so everything jumps back into place) and then drag the pallette back in.

    most unsatisfactory.

    testing continues.

Fireworks is installed in the default location. The path below leads to

    /Applications/Adobe/Adobe Fireworks CS4/Adobe Fireworks

Installer team has noticed from the log that installer version used is 99. Where as all Fw Cs4 and patches are built with installer version 131.

I belive either you have used wrong installer or have sent wrong log files.

    1. First delete logs

    2. Install pacth preferably through help update.

    3. Now send logs.

No. These are not correct either. Name itself indicates that logs are for Creative Suite Web Premium.

To avoid any confusion suggest to move all files from log location. Keep the folders intact.

Reproduce the scenario, you should have only log files with Fw CS4 in its name.

Well unfortunately this is just another disappointing saga. Now Fireworks just decides to give up and quit right when im in the middle of using it. It's completely random and I soooooo regret installing that upgrade! I've lost over an hour of my time today due to Fireworks either just suddenly quiting or producing errors and not enabling me to save work.

I'll be installing an older version soon I think.

There's still loads of stuff that I'm just not happy with in this release. It's supposed to save time, not create more time wasting.

I'm just hoping there'll be an extra update soon.

My initial happiness with CS 4 was shortly lived ... with Fireworks anyway.

    Hi Sarthak

I've been unable to run the Fireworks CS4 10.0.3 update since it was released. I have tried through the standard Adobe updater and by downloading the individual patch several times but with the same "Adobe Fireworks Cs4 10.0.3 - Failed to Install." message.

I have uploaded a ZIP file containing the .gz files to; http://www.andrewscrivener.co.uk/fw_CS4_errors.zip

I also don't seem to have the “aum.log” and “pbs.log” files in the /tmp/ directory?

Hopefully they'll be a fix to this as I haven't been able to use Fireworks CS4 since I purchased it on the launch day last year.

    Many Thanks

Andrew, The logs indicate you installed WebPremium. Did you install FW from a GM version of Webpremium suite? This was little confusing as your mail said "Since I purchased Fireworks...".

Initial investigation points some permission issues while applying patch. I would recommend un-installing Fw and re-installing it before applying patch.

Also move all the existing installer log files (from Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers) to differnt location. And send only the newly created nstaller log. When we have many logs (as in your zip), we could be looking at wrong file.

    Hi Sanjay

I've removed the log files as requested. Uninstalled Fireworks CS4 and reinstalled. The 10.0.3 combo updater still fails when I try to install it, I've attached the current log file.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "GM version of Webpremium suite", do you mean Gold Master? I originally had a full version of CS2 and the individual Macromedia applications (Fireworks 8, Dreamweaver 8 and Flash 8), I then upgraded this on launch to the WebPremium CS3 and then again on launch to WebPremium CS4.

At the moment I have both CS3 and CS4 installed on my iMac and Macbook Pro (as CS4 is not currently useable) and neither Macs will successfully upgrade the Fireworks patch to 10.0.3.

The log file attachment link is not accessible. It says 'Queued". Possibly the location is full. Suggest to post it some other location and provide me link. Altarnatively delete the older zip file and try.

Yes I was referring Gold Master. I was just trying to understand if you had pre-release CS4 suite installed, and if that left behind some files etc.

    Hi Sanjay

    I've attached the log again and if there's any problems also uploaded it for you to download at;

    http://www.andrewscrivener.co.uk/fireworksLog.zip

To answer your other question I did originally try the Fireworks CS4 beta but that was on my previous Macbook and I removed it with the CS4 beta removal tool, the only possible way there could be any stray files is if they weren't removed correctly and have since synched to my new Macbook via MobileMe.

I'm running into a different, but related issue. When checking for updates within FW, the updater checked all Adobe apps, offered the various downloads, including 10.0.3 for FW, and ran the updater without incident. However, when viewing the version number on the splash screen, or checking Help > About Fireworks, I'm seeing the version as 10.0.0.495. I've run through this process three or four times now with the same results.

I also just tried downloading the standalone updater for FW 10.0.3 and when I attempt to run it, it tells me that 10.0.3 is already installed.

    Any help?

Please verify by hovering your mouse on Fireworks.exe application for its version.

Since you do not get any error message I do not see much use of log files.

I suggest uninstall Fw cs4 and then re-install Fw CS4.

Sanjay, thanks for the suggestion. Hovering over the .exe displays

10.0.0.495 ... same as the 'About Fireworks' view. I believe the issue I'm

having is not specific to FW, but to all the Adobe products as every time I

check for updates, the updater is finding the same three updates ... one for

FW, one for Reader, and one for Illustrator.

So I'm thinking a complete uninstall and reinstall ... ugh.

    Thanks again,

    Rick

    Sarthak,

Could you send me an email or place to upload the files you need. I have CS4 Master Suite and I ran the updater every app updated but the Fireworks 10.0.3 I even made a new user account for a different issue and it's still won't update, I also used thew standalone installer.

    Thanks,

    Hi David

Note the location of installer logs in this thread.

    1. Please move all existing installer logs to make the place clean. (Leave any other folders at that location intact)

    2. Run the standalone updater

    3. Send the newly created installer log

Also keep in mind last time you had to post the logs at your website instead pf attaching here because of size limitations.

I have recently upgraded both my computer and Adobe software suite.  I have 6 GB of ram and a very fast processor.  Issue I am having is the slow speed of Fireworks CS4 opening and saving files.  Is there some form of Vista Business 64 bit optimization I need to do?  Does having both CS3 and CS4 installed on the same system cause an issue?

I am desperate to get this solved.  I have invested heavily in using the increased speed of CS4 64 bit, and have in no way realized those time savings because of the issues above.

    Please help me.
