I have a slideshow project and had sampled the Party Menu HD menu at one point but decided not to use it and created my own. Now it still shows up in the Menus palette. I have deleted it from the Sources directory in the project folder, however Encore says it notices that the file is missing and creates a placeholder, then it's back again. How can I delete it permanently?
No, that's what I'm saying, it's there but I can't delete it no matter what I do.
I'm also getting a "Stream type is invalid" during the build process. This is during the "Building slideshows..." procedure of the build process.
I'm not sure if these two things are related - I'm guessing they are not given this is my first slideshow that I'm trying to do with Encore CS4. I need to understand both of these issues.
OK, did a save-as. Opened the Menu panel and the only menu there was my working one. Did Build to Folder, view errors and whala, Error came up and said that it couldn't find Party Menu HD.psd and it would create a placeholder for it. After clicking OK, I was returned to the Check Project window. Party Menu HD shows as being an "Orphaned Menu" as before.
Is there a cache or preferences file I can delete like you can do when Premiere or Dreamweaver takes a dump?
I believe the cache files that Encore uses are limited to video and audio media, and not menus - but you can try deleting them anyway anyway and seeing if that helps (do this on a saved copy of the project, as I can't say for sure this would be completely safe and not affect the project itself); there is a Cache folder in the the project folder - delete it, then relaunch Encore, open the project and see if that helped any.
I'm doubtful that will help, because far as I know, the code that Encore uses to automatically replace a missing menu lives in the project file. But I could be wrong. Be safe and work only on a copy of the project.
Well as with every project that's been created with an Adobe product, if you don't get the results you need, delete it all and start over. That's what I did and it works fine now. Oh ya there are still glitches like delete a slide in a show and Encore just closes without warning, but hey, it wouldn't be Adobe if it didn't do that!
I like the slideshow capability of Encore but I can quickly see that it was an after thought. I really hope they clean it up in the future and continue to support it. I'd love to see it integrated in to Premiere somehow, but then again, I can't image having to deal with both of those buggy apps at the same time.
Thanks for your help.
I'm also glad that the OP got it going. One thing that I find extremely odd is that this is the third post, regarding the "Party" Menu, since about mid-April. Three different posters (or so they seem) have had issues with this same Menu. I wonder if there is a glitch in that particular Asset (a few of these have been found in Adobe PE's Menus). Three problems (albeit different problems) on the same Menu in a 30-day period puzzles me. Maybe it's just a popular Menu and all is coincidence. Still might be some little problem, that otherwise goes unnoticed.
