Hey, I recently redesigned a hotel website in flash and was wondering if some of you would like to review it please. Just wanted to know if the colors are ok, and the size of font aswell as the layout. View the website at http://www.norbreckcastle.com
It is not possible to sroll down, at least using FF; instead it is necessary to use the side bar. Strange.
It is better to reduce the width to fit normal browser window size.
A background colouring, possibly with different colours behind certain parts, might make the site more lively, especially with a possibly faint change at mouseover etc. Colours should match chosen basic colour, of course.
Neat, tidy - a bit plain but maybe that's all people need if they already know they want to stay in Blackpool and just want a hotel. Some photos might make it more visually attractive - of the exteriors of the hotels or Blackpool itself.
Slow to load and a bit jerky on my current machine. Scroll bars work fine in Safari, I'd address that issue in other browsers.
Too wide on this screen - remember your target audience (I've stayed in cheap hotels in Blackpool )
If you want to consider making it narrower, you could drop the Room Search to the left hand column, the actual room descriptions don't need that much width.
You might want to think about a bit more use of colour to differentiate the various areas, make it even easier to spot what people are looking to use.
I'd also consider a non-Flash alternative, again, target audience. When it's been up a bit longer I'd check out what systems, browsers etc. are being used to access the site, make sure you aren't excluding people. A Google webmaster account will help check stats if you don't already have it.
Text is fairly small and of course can't easily be increased due to the use of Flash. Don't a fair few older people look for hotels like this ???
Oops, sorry - I was noticing the special offer prices, as Blackpool goes it's not a cheap hotel, no offence meant! I think you definitely need an exterior shot, fairly prominent, as a visual clue. Considering the stereotypes of Blackpool
Kath, I was referring to in page scroll wheel scrolling, which I often use for short scrolls. Does that work for you?
I believe srolling works for no one; I have a keyboard that likes a good thumping.
hey, thanks you two have taken your comments on board and will be changing the hotel site around abit like decreasing width adding a few colours and photos here and there.
Thanks for reviewing the site for me.
