Hello,
I keep getting the error:
This program requires flash.ocx, which is no longer available in this version of Windows.
This program is trying to launch a web browser within it that has a flash player (the program is a .net program), which I can't even view. However, same program on my laptop, and no problem.
I currently run Vista, and the latest version of flash (10). I've done all of the standard things such as un-install, and re-install flash. Take out all my security for my web browser settings. Clean my registery, copy the current flash10.ocx file into the same directory and re-name it to flash.ocx, etc... I've also tried the fix suggested on this site with the ACL tool to clean, and re-install flash. Nothing has worked to this point.
Any help or suggestions appreciated.
Here is THE answer for developer, and likely for anyone who is having vista / flash problems. The program that you're using may have been compiled on a 64-bit machine, or you're running a 64-bit version of your browser.
If you’re developing on an x64 (64–bit) machine, you must change your compile target platform to x86 (32–bit). The WebBrowser control renders according to your platform—x64 in 64–bit, x86 in 32–bit. Most of us use the 32–bit version of Internet Explorer on our x64 Windows because plugins, such as Flash, only have 32–bit editions. In this case, Flash will not be able to load under the x64 WebBrowser control and will throw errors.
Hi - I am getting the same error, but it occurs every time I exit PowerPoint (Office 2007). It has nothing to do with my web e browser as far as I can tell (IE 8) ... Running Vista Business 64 (?). It says I need to install the latest version of Adobe Flash player, but I already have it installed. I am not a developer .... just want to run and exit PPT without the silly error message. Any ideas would be appreciated.
thanks,
paul
