Can Lr pdf slideshows played with Reader be paused?

Aug 26, 2009 6:15 PM

When I output a pdf slideshow from Lr I understand that the duration and fade times are ignored, but when I play the slideshow in Reader in "full screen" mode, I cannot pause the slide advancing.  I can go back and forth manually with the arrow keys, but I can't "stop" it from advancing without taking it out of full screen mode (which doesn't work as a workaround in my situation.)  I thought that the space bar might do it, but this just makes it advance again.

Does Reader have a way of pausing slide advances?

Thanks,

Larry

You may be better posting in the Acobat forum

I use Acrobat pro and the space bar works in that, but I don't know about the reader I had just assumed it was the same. Strange if it isn't and useful to know as most clients may not have Acrobat and just have the free reader.

I had the opportunity to test a slide show today on a windows machine without Acrobat. The spacebar does not pause it. Very strange....I would suggest raising this on the Acrobat forum as some one there is sure to know and there is no forum for the player. I very rarly use the pdf slide shows from LR for clients but have occasionally done so in the past and now must remember to tell them not to open it in full screen mode.

Is there some setting I'm missing in either Reader or Lr?

If there is I certainly don't know what it is..I assume it is a problem with the latest version of the reader and nothing to do with LR as the space bar doesn't pause any slideshow in the player, whilst it does in my (older) version of Acrobat Pro.

Not sure which player you are referring to (no forum), but the Adobe Reader has a set of forums at http://forums.adobe.com/community/adobe_reader_forums

My mistake...didn't spot it in the list. The reader I tried today is version 9.1.3 and the slideshow is not paused by the space bar.

My own copy of Acrobat is 8.1 (can't afford to upgrade it!) and the space bar pauses the slide show.

I got it to stop advancing automatically by checking the "Ignore all transitions option."
