Hi Sanjay
I've attached the log again and if there's any problems also uploaded it for you to download at;
http://www.andrewscrivener.co.uk/fireworksLog.zip
To answer your other question I did originally try the Fireworks CS4 beta but that was on my previous Macbook and I removed it with the CS4 beta removal tool, the only possible way there could be any stray files is if they weren't removed correctly and have since synched to my new Macbook via MobileMe.

I'm running into a different, but related issue. When checking for updates within FW, the updater checked all Adobe apps, offered the various downloads, including 10.0.3 for FW, and ran the updater without incident. However, when viewing the version number on the splash screen, or checking Help > About Fireworks, I'm seeing the version as 10.0.0.495. I've run through this process three or four times now with the same results.
I also just tried downloading the standalone updater for FW 10.0.3 and when I attempt to run it, it tells me that 10.0.3 is already installed.
Any help?
Sanjay, thanks for the suggestion. Hovering over the .exe displays
10.0.0.495 ... same as the 'About Fireworks' view. I believe the issue I'm
having is not specific to FW, but to all the Adobe products as every time I
check for updates, the updater is finding the same three updates ... one for
FW, one for Reader, and one for Illustrator.
So I'm thinking a complete uninstall and reinstall ... ugh.
Thanks again,
Rick
Sarthak,
Could you send me an email or place to upload the files you need. I have CS4 Master Suite and I ran the updater every app updated but the Fireworks 10.0.3 I even made a new user account for a different issue and it's still won't update, I also used thew standalone installer.
Thanks,
David
Hi David
Note the location of installer logs in this thread.
1. Please move all existing installer logs to make the place clean. (Leave any other folders at that location intact)
2. Run the standalone updater
3. Send the newly created installer log
Also keep in mind last time you had to post the logs at your website instead pf attaching here because of size limitations.
I have recently upgraded both my computer and Adobe software suite. I have 6 GB of ram and a very fast processor. Issue I am having is the slow speed of Fireworks CS4 opening and saving files. Is there some form of Vista Business 64 bit optimization I need to do? Does having both CS3 and CS4 installed on the same system cause an issue?
I am desperate to get this solved. I have invested heavily in using the increased speed of CS4 64 bit, and have in no way realized those time savings because of the issues above.
Please help me.
The simultaneous installation of Fireworks CS3 and CS4 does not cause any performance issues. The increased speed of 64 bit is not being consumed by Fireworks like other Adobe apps ex Photoshop.
You might probably try running a fewer applications to make the system and apps run faster. A guess.
Sarthak,
Attached is the file I am having problems with. The components that are
causing the problem are Illustrator Artistic Brush strokes that I imported
into Fireworks CS4 form Illustrator CS4. These components have been
highlighted in purple. CS3 does not have any issues with this. Is there a
patch or work around for this?
This file will take 60 seconds to save in CS4 versus 3 seconds to save in
CS3.
Please help me.

Sarthak,
Adobe support is telling me that Fireworks CS4 is not compatible with 64 bit
operating systems. Is this true? When I purchased CS4, part of the
advertised benefit was the speed increase that would be realized when
running the package on a 64 bit system. When I installed the product, I
installed the 64 bit version. This line of reasoning from Adobe support
does not make sense. Can you please clarify?
Thanks,

According to the MS Vista Compatability list here http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Search.aspx?s=Adobe%20F ireworks&type=software&os=64-bit
Yes Fireworks CS3/CS4 should be fine on 64bit
h
Heathrowe,
Thank you for the information. Yes I agree that the 64 bit CS4 package (and
there are two versions of CS4, one 32 bit and one 64 bit, I installed the 64
bit version) I installed should be compatible with Vista and all 64 bit
hardware platforms.
Here is the response I got from Adobe:
The simultaneous installation of Fireworks CS3 and CS4 does not cause any
performance issues. The increased speed of 64 bit is not being consumed by
Fireworks like other Adobe apps ex Photoshop.
You might probably try running a fewer applications to make the system and
apps run faster. A guess.
The problem I have happens when just Fireworks CS4 is open and all other
apps are closed. The second response I received was:
Firstly, I need to inform you that Adobe does not certify Fireworks
CS4 for Windows Vista 64-bit operating system. It is only certified for
the 32-bit version. Hence working on a non-compatible OS may result in
unexpected errors. I can either suggest you to use a 32-bit vista or
wait for a compatible release from Adobe.
The second statement came directly from Adobe online support. The problem
happens in CS4 and not in CS3. I have isolated it to the addition of
Illustrator Artistic Brush elements. The included file has the problem.
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

I am also having an issue updating Fireworks to 10.0.3. I am running PPC 10.5 Web Design Premium CS4.
I don't have any logs in the folder indicated in this forum's thread. Looks like I may have to do a clean reinstall of my whole machine but that is going to be a waste of time if I still can't update. Can someone help me?
Sarthak,
Attached is the file that has the Illustrator Artistic Brush strokes that were imported into Fireworks CS4. This file saves at the normal rate in CS3, but takes a long time (up to two minutes) in Fireworks CS4. Please help me to understand the problem.
Natalya
I'm having the same problem.. Eveytime I tried to install 10.0.3 update, I get the same error: "Adobe Fireworks CS4 10.0.3 - Failed to Install.".
What can I do about it? Somebody already discovered how to fix it?
I also attached the log that you guys were talking about. Hope it be helpfull.
I installed the patch and see no difference in stability problems. FW CS4 crashes every 5-10 minutes on an otherwise stable Pentium 4, 4GB RAM, Win XP Pro.
Your software team may want to study this page of design professionals who have all experienced the same instability:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/hicksdesign/3961465821/
IT IS YOUR SOFTWARE. PLEASE FIX IT.
My Fireworks CS4 will not open. I get the error, "An internal error occurred" (twice).
I moved all my fonts and it still wouldn't work.
I tried moving specific fonts that other people noted, and it still didn't work.
I downloaded and unzipped the update. My screen shows Version 10.0.3.011. It still doesn't open. same error.
what else? It worked fine for the last three months. Then this error.
Can you help me please.
