AVCHD .mts file Problem!?

Sep 4, 2009 8:48 AM

Hi,

I just got adobe premiere pro cs4 and have small experince on it and know my way around... I also own a canon VIXIA HF200 AVCHD camera and it puts the video into a mts file, now when I try to import it then it says file format not supported. Now I know that it works because I recently restored my computer and I had it on before and I was able to import it and edit it, but now after the restoration of my computer I reinstalled it and it would not import, I don't even see a avchd option in the project setting which I used to have... please help! Thanks a bunch!

The restoration likely killed the necessary CODEC. I would do a Repair Install of CS4, with all necessary updates, to repair/replace the CODEC's. Unless I'm totally wrong, the AVCHD format/CODEC support should be built into CS4.1, and you should NOT need to get any additional CODEC's beyond what ships and installs with CS4.1.

    Good luck,

If you have used the trial at some time or have had a faulty installation and have now updated to 4.1, likely your version has returned to trial status, meaning nothing MPEG related can be used. It requires a complete uninstall, running the Clean Script CS4 (search the KB for that) 2 or 3 times , a reinstall and then the update to 4.1.

Yes, that situation could certainly account for the MPEG CODEC's going south. Since Adobe hides its CODEC's it is less probable that some other program has killed them.

Did you ever have a trial version installed - ever? [Edit] This is directed at SMP and not to Harm.

    Good luck,

It is spelled out in post #2.

Is clean script cs4 free? what is it?

Yes, it is free from HERE.

It is basicly what its name implies - it cleans one's computer of all program aspects of Adobe PrPro CS4, including cleaning the Registry. Harm recommends running it a couple of times. I have no personal experience, but would defer to Harm on this count.

    Good luck,

    Hunt

PS - if you had CS3 trial, there is a Clean Script CS3. I do not know how the two might differ.

Have the problem with cs 5.52. The MTS import disappeared and brings now error messages

I tried all the solution you talked about
