See attached a script that does that, but you need to have CS4, because it converts pdf pages into artboards,This script is from someone I can't remember now, thannks to him for sharing.

    Mario,

This script sounds great, and is exactly what I need. I'd appreciate if you would explain how to install and use the script. Does it work with both Mac and PC?

Sure, just download and unzip the file, store it on the desktop or where ever you want, this is a drog and drop script so, just do that with the file you want to convert and that's it..

I tested this in a Mac but not in a PC, give it  atry and tell me.

    enjoy

    Mario,

Works like a charm on Mac, but is not compatible with PC. Do you know of a similar script for PC?

Any chance there is something like this for CS5?  I just tried using attached script and I do have CS4 as well as CS5, but it didn't appear to work.

Likely this script/app specifies AICS4 as the application to be targeted upon running the script. But it works fine in CS4, just drag a multi-page pdf to the script/app icon and it will ask you how you want the artboards laid out and will proceed to make a file with all the pages. Then save the file and reopen in AICS5 and resave it as a AICS5 file if you need the new bells and whistles.

I know it should work that way, but it didn't.  Even when I closed AI CS5 and opened AI CS4 and then dropped the file on the script, nothing happened.  The script opened but nothing popped up, the script didn't proceed to do anything. Luckily we still have a couple non-Intel workstations that we weren't able to put CS5 on, so I ran the script on one of those and it worked flawlessly.  I certainly hope that the script eventually gets upgraded to CS5 because we probably will get rid of those outdated workstations eventually.

Mine is an Intel machine and it works fine. But I don't have CS5 installed.

I didn't think it was an Intel issue.  I tried it on a non-Intel because all our Intels have CS5 on them, and I think having the newer app is causing the script not to work. Not sure if that could be an easy tweak in the script to make it launch the correct app when there are several to choose from . . . I wouldn't begin to know how to fix it.

Since it's compled as an app, there is no easy way to get to the script that I know. I tried the solutions from Script Editor Help but neither worked.

I sent a private message to Shane Stanley, but he replied that he has not upgraded to CS5 yet.  I guess a lot of people haven't. We made the jump from CS3 to CS5 and only have CS4 because we bought it right when CS5 was released so that we could get both suites for the upgrade to one.

I'm sorry, I know this is an old thread, but has this been updated to CS5 now that a number of years has gone by?
