Hi,
I have successfully been using Dreamweaver 8 for a few months, then suddenly this morning on opening the program, it would not start. It was closed succesfully the night before but this morning, the program try's to open but the opening box loads up to "Initalizing CSS styles" then just sits there. I have tried opening a number of times, uninsatlled and re installed it, and finally did a system restore to the night before, it all does the same thing. ITS SOO FRUSTRSTING!!! Can anyone help with this, i am really desprate.
I welcome any suggestions,
Andrew
i experienced the same thing ... been using it for 3 years and this morning it did not work. worked with adobe ALL day -- 6 different techs and multiple customer service techs. not until just now ... they infomed me that they do not provide tech support for 8 anymore ... after all day of people knowing.
yes ..frustrating. sorry no sulution ... just the same exact timing and situation. i think they are forcing the upgrade for $199 .. which due to deadlines and absolutely no anwers ... is the only solution. nancy
they also gave me these links:
1 -- this one
2 -- adobe.com/go/supportportal
might be something online in a google search. good luck!
yep - same. just downloaded the upgrades and tried that ... still crashes. out of time and patience ... so getting closer to the desparate upgrade~ you can do the 30 day free trial of dreamweaver CS4 if you need to do something soon ... and deal with customer service in relaxed time. my tech guy said that the second link .. supportportal ... will get back to you in 4 hours .. just provide as much detailed info as you can ... operating sytem details . every little detail. might work.
try this:

I also just got this email from tech support Adobe:

h2. Crashes, installation, JavaScript errors, and unexplained problems
If Dreamweaver is acting erratically, or if you see a message saying "the following JavaScript error(s) occurred", it's usually a sign of a corrupt cache file. The first thing to try should always be to delete the file cache. If that doesn't work, delete your personal Configuration folder. Full instructions are in /thread/494811.

Hi Nancy H,
Did you try deleting the personal config folder?
Which OS are you on?
(if win - not being condescending, just checking bases here)
Did you receive an OS update recently?
Any chance you picked up a virus or trojan, have you run an anti-virus scan of your HD lately?
Have you run Clean Disk & Disk Defrag lately?

Re-create the Dreamweaver Site preferences file to eliminate problems that a damaged Site preferences file might cause.
Note: Re-creating the Dreamweaver Site preferences file will remove all site definitions.
To re-create the Dreamweaver Site preferences file:
If the problem continues, then the Dreamweaver Site preferences file isn't the cause. To restore site definitions, quit Dreamweaver, then delete the new Site Prefs file and restore the original name of the previous Site Prefs file.
