Flash Lite 4.0  vs  FP 10 for mobiles

Hi,

We are starting a project with a launch timeframe of 6 months and it would be really helpful if we could get more information from Adobe on the mobile roadmap for 2010.

According to this slide, FL 4.0 will be a web plugin only: http://blog.flavert.com/2009/09/26/flash-lite-4-in-2010/

Does it mean that it will not be supported by the Mobile Packager?

IE, the distributable player solution will only download FP 10.1  OTA  instead?

If so, what about mass market devices without enough processing power for 10.1 , will those be stuck with FL 3.1 ?

If not the case, and if FL 4.0  **will**  be downloadable  OTA for applications, than Adobe should not be putting out information that it's a web plugin only.

Please please Adobe, come clean on this. Before all bosses decide to dump Flash Lite altogether.

    Hi,

Flash Player 10.1 and Flash Lite 4.0 are both web browser plugins, not for standalone applications.

At this stage we have no plans to release FL4/FL10.1 to be used with the Mobile Packager, only the FL3.1 Distributable Player is used for creating standalone applications.  In the future we intend for standalone apps to be created with Adobe AIR, the first of this new product is centered on Flash for the iPhone.

Also at the FITC conference I discussed our plans to transition the Distributable Player to SWFPack.com, who will maintain the product ongoing with FL3.1.

This new solution will result in support globally for all S60v3 and S60v5 devices, and all WM5 and WM6 devices.  Additionally this release with SWFPack.com will include support for the Mac OS and remove the need for SDK installations.

In the next few weeks we will be having an e-seminar on the topic, so keep an eye out for this at my blog.

    Regards,
