Help With Crash Code  In PRE8 Please

Nov 12, 2009 5:35 PM

In an interest to turn some of my recent discussions in a more positive direction and in keeping with the primary function of this forum (seeking advice and solutions) and in a further effort to not continually ***** about PRE8, can someone please help with and interpret the following crash codes recently generated by PRE8?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Glenn

Probably not as directly, as it would be nice to provide, but this ARTICLE might help you find some useful "clues," as to what was happening with your system, when you had the app-crash.

I have had great results from following the general guidelines in that article. Yes, there are tons of cryptic code that even MS engineers cannot read, but there are often real "gems," that point to solutions.

That would be my starting point.

    Good luck,

    Hunt

It could be a confict within Vista with Drivers, MS Services and Adobe PE.

Revew this Support Doc from Microsoft and you can try a CleanBoot as describe to help isolate the issue:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

I got here by a Google of your Vista Error Code ~ "AppHangXProcB1", which turned up quite a few related links.

Many of them pointed to iExplore.exe, so maybe a CleanBoot might help to isolate what's taking place...

    Good Luck...

Now, the "access violation," indicates to me that something is not reporting memory usage correctly. This might be with physical RAM, or with regards to Windows Virtual Memory, i.e. the Page File.

Prior to an NLE session, I do the steps outlined in this ARTICLE to clean out anything that might get in the way.

    Hopes that something helps,

    Hunt

I assume you are trying to resolve the crash reporter log to find out what went wrong and how to avoid/correct/work around it. So if you could explain what led to the crash, as in the steps you performed, that could be useful...

    Happy to help.

There are some useful links in this forum

    http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere/premiere_elements/premiere_ elements_faq

    http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere/premiere_elements/premiere_ elements_tips

And beyond this you could let us know what is your system configuration. You mentioned cliparts.. Are they the HD animated ones by any chance? They could consume resources that the PC might not have. And crash..

Is there any specific project settings that is causing havoc? Specific clip?

Just some questions to help us point to a solution.

It seems to be random but ranges from things like trying to insert clip art to trying to change the disk menus on a project.

Can you give us the details of exactly (step-by-step with details) what you are doing with the Menus and the clipart? There might well be something there.

    Good luck,

    Hunt

Brilliant! That's information, and definitely information enough.

On the face of it, I see that the problem is what many have generally seen. Graphics card related. There are some random crashers that get resolved by the unchecking the checkbox called "Enable GPU Playback" in Edit->Preferences. This seems to have worked for some. I could be wrong, but one try with this could tell you if this is the culprit.

Before you start, you could do this to check if the system is good to use for editing

    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/483270?tstart=0

This would also help (Looks like Premiere Pro post, but does no harm in trying for Premiere Elements)

    http://premierepro.wikia.com/wiki/Troubleshooting'

A little less related, but a helpful-for-sure link

    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/446365?tstart=0

A little more RAM for the App would help. You have 4 GB of it, so...

    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/446316?tstart=0

Turning off Aero could give more memory for PE to work with.

    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/415316?tstart=0

And updating the graphics card driver is a must-do.

The graphics card can be tweaked to work well with certain applications better. The post below is in "nVidia language", but you would surely figure out what to do for ATI.

    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2384067#2384067

Hope I have "link"ed you to a solution...

    Cheers.

If you have macfee by any chance uninstall or disable it . if this does not work . go to msconfig disable all startup and services( hide all microsoft services) except flexnet licensing services.
