Instructional Book

Jan 27, 2010 5:49 PM

I have just received my copy of Lightroom and am eager to begin.  Does anyone have some recommendations for good instruction books for me?

"The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom2 book for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby, ISBN 13:978-0-321-55556-4 (yes, that's the first ISBN number I've ever seen with a colon in it).

"The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book, The complete guide for photographers", by Martin Evening.ISBN-13:978-0-321-55561-8 (MMM, that's the second ISBN number with a colon).

Kelby is an easier read,  Evening has a few things that aren't in Kelby (or I couldn't find).  For a newb, I'd recommend

    Kelby.

Beware that both have a Lightroom 1 version, which you don't want.

Before spending more money, try the videos and tutorials via the LR help menu. As good, if not better than any book.

Julianne Kost Lightroom Tutorials has a WEALTH

of information; it's been invaluable to me - as well

making this forum your go-to place with questions.

    These are great people . . .

For me, there's two problems with the videos:

    1. My bandwidth can't keep up with them.  They come in fits and starts

    2. Even if I download the whole video and then play it back at full speed, I find the pace ratther glacial.

A book, I can pick up, use the index to fine what I care about, and learn.
