Copyright Issues

Feb 24, 2010 12:45 AM

Hello all

Working a project I did some sketches of statues in my region of France. I would like to incorporate one into a logo design and am wondering if this is risky or not.

The statues are in public locations and were created by artists loooong gone by now...

Is there anyone here in the know on issues of this nature or maybe a solid source I could look at for concrete information on the subject?

I appreciate any help/info you could offer me.

Thanks in advance!

Creating original images from drawing and painting programs. The best way to obtain images is to create them in a drawing or other image creation program. In doing so, however, it is best to start from scratch rather than from someone else's creation. Even if an image is significantly altered, the new image may infringe upon the copyright in the first image by being a derivative work."
