Problem
Almost finished constructing a web site (my first) now suddenly, in all the files, none of the objects are appearing on the stage only their registration points(the white circles right?). If I isolate the object it appears.
I moved some of the .fla files, is that the problem? (moving them back didn't help) or have I just hit a hot key that has changed some display settings?
They still export fine but this makes it impossible to edit when I cant see the composition.
Immensely frustrating, someone please help!?
Not sure what is below layers in screen shot, or how it may effect your display... but if you notice the last layer in the screenshot is a mask layer that has been hidden with the red x on the visual show/hide column. Uncheck all those red x's see if it helps?
Have you saved and reopened the file? And are all of the diplsplay elements still in the library? Any recent housekeeping of the library?
Thanks for reply,
Theres alot of layers you cant see in the screen shot but I dont think this is the problem as it is the same with any flash file i open.
It seems other files will show basic objects, but any symbols are invisible and just display thier registration point.(as in the screenshot)
Is there a setting that controls the way symbols are displayed on the stage?
Thanks again, still tryin to fix,
Im using cs4 I am relatively new to flash (about 5 months)
Alot of the suggestions sound specific for this file, I have opened around 10 totally unrelated files and they are showing the same. (ie I have not edited these at all since the problem occurred)
This is a screen shot from a simple mousetrap tutorial done a while back (displayed fine before). Some basic shapes are there but the symbols are not displayed (ie the cheese, spring and reset button (represented by the three small circles/registration points))?
Any thoughts?
Hey can anyone help? Have been trying to fix this for 2 days now, cant really work until this is sorted.
The specific problem seem to be that movie clips will not display on the stage (with any .fla, but only on this computer(macbook pro))
Sorry the videos not the best quality but hopefully someone can help its driving me nuts!?
Thanks
hi, can i ask if you ever found out how to fix this problem? mine is doing the same thing, and i'm not too sure how to solve it.
(I even went to the extent of re-doing a whole document again, saved it, closed it, and then re-open it... no objects appear! ITS SO ANNOYING!)
i've looked on the web but there doesn't seem to be any answers. would be brilliant if anyone could help. PLEASE with a cherry on the top!!!
Hi Lauren,
Sorry don't think I ever fixed this. Had to finish my web site pretty much blind. I will check my computer this evening and see if its still an issue.
But don't worry I feel your pain
My only advice just now would be to use another computer or try a different version of flash ![]()

Hi,
Which platform are you working on (mac or window)? Which version of Flash? Can you please email your fla to us at FlashAuthBetaBugs@adobe.com? Please note that our filter system cannot accept .zip file. If you are to zip your fla, please change the file extension from .zip to .zzz.
Thanks,

Thanks for the response, its on mac, cs4 Flash 10.0.2.
Afraid I don't think sending a file would show anything as I know these files work completely fine on other computers and have tested multiple files. I even finished my project on another computer. The problem appears only on my computer.
Thanks Iain
Hi Iain,
Lauren has sent me her files and we're looking at that issue right now.
As for your machine, since it is happening to all of your files there are a few things we can try. We're going to delete your user configuration folder and preferences files.
1. Quit Flash if you have it running.
2. Delete your user configuration folder:
3. Follow instruction from the following link to recreate your preferences files:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/520/cpsid_52048.html
4. Reboot your machine.
5. Launch Flash and see if you are still seeing this issue.
