Error: "invalid time", Code: "24"

Jan 1, 2008 1:07 PM

Can anyone help with this, am trying to make a Blu-ray with 3 videos & a menu.
2 videos are m2v with ac3 5.1, the other is mpg with audio removed in Encore and the ac3 for it added. All 3 are 1080i, 29.976 fps. All were transport streams and I demuxed them to get the elementary streams for import (except one which I converted to mpg program stream as the m2v was having trouble importing).
I am getting the following error during the build after the transcoding has been done (29.976, 1080i, 15mbps). I have tried removing the videos one at a time but still get the same error with each one. I have also tried starting a new project with a framereate of 23.976 but get the same error after transcoding's finished.

any help would be greatly appreciated (the quicker the better ;) )

error:
Blu-ray Object: "video title with no extension", Error: "invalid time", Code: "24", Note: "start + duration exceeds clip duration"

the video and audio have the same name with different extensions so not sure which it's referring to (but think it's the audio as the transcoded video has its name changed). The audio is EXACTLY the same length as the video (as they are from the same source), I don't import them as a program stream as Encore then decides it's not 5.1 audio!

Mathew. I had this error and it was Encore reporting the video longer than audio. In fact the 13 frames extra were probably not there in the first place. However, I changed the properties of the out point in Encore to match the real length (from the source file) and the error did not reapear when I built the folder- instead I got a different error (error 6) <doh> Encore is so helpfull.<br />But as you say the properties show the same length then I dont know mate.

Has anyone found a solution to this or do I have to make this project over? My audio and video are from the same source file. I made my blu-ray project and tried to create an ISO 3 times, each time Encore hung (on a clean XP system). So I first transcoded the files and tried to then build the ISO. I get the error Error: Invalid Time code 24. Start + duration exceeds clip duration. I tried copying the project to a new directory and deleting all the transcodes and re-creating the transcodes. Same problem.

Someone please say they have a definite solution. I would really appreciate knowing how to fix this without having to start from scratch and cross my fingers.

Does Adobe even monitor this forum? I have made 4 bluray discs but have made about 12 projects just to get them completed, Encore always has some kind of problem. I too have had the error 6 that others have reported. Like another post I saw, I only purchased this suite so I can make bluray discs. Just unbelievable.

    Thanks.

NO. That's why it says "user to user" in big letters at the top of this and every page in the forum.

Good luck with Blu-Ray. I wouldn't touch the stuff myself - I'd really hate to get any of it on me.

I got into this error condition when I made an adjustment in Premiere and tried replacing the timeline assets. After that point I kept getting this error. The only way I could get around it was to export the timeline in Premiere to a new Encore project and recreate everything. The bottom line is that replacing the assets in the Encore timeline can cause internal Encore problems that are not easily resolved.

Having the same problem. I called customer support and they figure it's a corrupt clip in the timeline. Have to find out which clip won't export (which individual clip yields the error message).
Hope this helps, frustrating as it is.

Forget what I said before- it wasn't a corrupt clip. Apparently it's a bug. Deselecting audio in the export options caused the errors. Go figure. I had no audio in my project so I deselected it out of habit (to save a mb or two).

This error does appear to be the result of a corrupt rendered file, either in the video file itself, or in the xmp / xmpses files that accompany it.

We recently had a customer who encountered this error with a motion menu, so it read slightly different:

BlurayObject "<Menu 01_Main _HD error: "Invalid time" Code "24", note start exceeds stream duration>

We had them go into the '/Sources/Menus/' folder and delete the rendered motion menu that was giving the problem in the error message. This consisted of an m2v, xmpses, and xmp file. Do not delete the PSD file of the menu.

We also had them delete all the files associated with that menu in the  /AuthorScriptHDMVSessions/ folder. This folder will only exist if you attempted to build a Blu-ray disc.

Removing those files and having Encore re-render them resolved the problem.

I understand this problem does not always occur with a menu, but if you do encounter it, it certainly seems to be caused by a corrupt transcoded file or accompanying xmp file.
