Could someone who knows please help as soon as possible
I have two versions of a PNG file, one in medium size and the other in XLarge size for print...
The medium opens fine but as its for print i need the XLarge to open
I have found no way to get it to open in Illustrator nor in Photoshop... I have already tried deleting my pref files with no luck...
Illustrator and Photoshop both open as though everything is great but then the image just simply doesnt ever open.
Any help is appreciated as i am on a DEADLINE for now.
Ok then I think that I am out of my depth here then.
Would you be so kind as to explain briefly to me something.
I am not experienced in print and have been dragged into this.
When working between Illustrator and Photoshop(photos edited for the lay out in Illustrator)
I should be exporting the PNGs at 300pp/in?
More specific:
I bought two images (One "Medium" and one "XLarge")
Medium = 1758x2760 (resolution 300ppcm)
XLarge = 2604x440 (resolution 300ppcm)
Reason I bought the Xlarge was because when I imported the Medium to the Illustrator artboard it wasnt large enough for what I wanted.
So I thought the Xlarge was what I needed...
But actually based on what you said above, I could have used the Medium and expanded it by more than twice its size and it still would have printed at 300dpt?
Does that sound right?
Yes, That should be the case. Try importing the medium sized one into AI and scale it up 200%. Then select the image, open the Document Info panel from the Window menu, from the flyout (small triangle upper right) check embedded or linked images (as needed) and you will be given the information on the size and resolution of the image.
Well I have the same problem again only this time I actually checked the ppi and it is correct.
The print size I need is 21in by 34in and the PNG I is 2144px by 3468px.
In "Image Size" dialogue I see "2.814in by 4.551in" at 762ppi.
When I blow it up to 100ppi I get 21.44in by 34.68in. Everything is great...
Now if I try to import this PNG into Illustrator I get the same problem, it wont open it.
I have to cut the image by roughly half to get it to import.
Any way around this?
