Anyone know when CS5 will be released? Really looking for the realtime playback engine.
Just wrote about this exact question - http://prodesigntools.com/when-cs5-coming-out.html
First:
Sorry (well, not really, but for the MOD's I say so) for making a very lounge'y post. Hey, the release date of CS5 is not more than "ghost-ware" of "promise-ware" and belong in the lounge IMO.
Second:
Hunt, NO NO NO, listen my friend; it is MUCH more exciting, than when CS5 is coming out, the taste of the last glass of a good bottle of wine. That glass is for real, and you do have it in your hand.
In the meantime, before CS5 is real (and also after), I'll say that: Get the work done, no matter what kind of SW in use.
Dag
PS! The wine-thing might be because when my wife and I share a bottle, she has a half of a glass (or just smells the cork) and I get the rest ![]()
My wife is better than yours! ![]()

ProDesign,
Welcome to the forum and thanks for the link. As the excitement builds and speculation ramps up, having some tid-bits will always be appreciated. Every little morsel helps.

Thanks Bill... You may also find this of interest, another new "morsel" today:
Source: “Rapidly approaching … Adobe releasing a new suite of products”
Whoops, sorry - I meant to post that in this thread instead, as followup to the original question here on when CS5 would be released! Hope this helps settle the matter... ![]()
Adobe CS5 Global Launch will be April 12th
So the release countdown hype was a joke? I went to download CS5 MC trial, put in my info, and it said it will lemme know when it becomes available for download/purchase. Apprently it is not available for purchase because it saya"preorder." And it's not available for download either. So what was the hype about? I am missing something here.

Hi Asian, today is the launch date for the new product, revealing of the new features and functionality, and the start of pre-order. Then within some weeks the release of the product and trials will happen, with shipments rolling through different languages and market segments. It happened the same way with CS4 and CS3.
If you like you can check out our blog and probably get some more answers to these questions, we've been covering it fairly closely.
chill with the language. i received emails from the forums from both of you to my work email address with your retarded comment. you should be banned from the forums. I mean cmon your using the f-word to proclaim a factual statement about the NAB announcement of cs5? thats like posting "the ^%$@#&!^@% sky is blue!"
what are you like 12 years old or something? obviously you are if you use the childish videogame term "fanboys" We are in america and has been tradition for many many years now adobe has always shown a sneak peak of the upcoming release of their software every year at the NAB convention. no one is pathetic, no one is walking on anyone. get a clue. just because "call of duty 6" was "announced", doesnt mean you can buy it that day. (or pirate it for you most likely i would bet)
You must be new to the world of software and computers in general, as you seem surprised that CS5 would be rolled out at NAB 2010, and that pre-sales have begun, but that the physical software is not on store shelves.
If you think back a few weeks, Steve Jobs displayed the iPad, but they were not for sale for what, 20 days?
Maybe time to pre-order, so you can be the first on your block to get your copy?

Right now, it appears that the ship start-date will be mid-May. Time will tell. Not sure if the pre-sale notice has any mention of the exact ship-date.
As we're only users here (all the Adobe folk, who might be hanging and helping are probably at NAB), we can only speculate and wait.
Looks like Encore is getting some new stuff too: http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/encore/

Hello Curt and ProDesign
Thank you for your posts. But if this was just an announcement I was naieve. I already knew CS5 was coming, and there was CUDA support, Photoshop had (more) amazing capabilities added and Flash had things added and so on. They had all sorts of videos, demos, reviews and speculations everywhere. So I didnt need another 'announcement' hype and countdown drama. I want CS5. At least a trial version so that I can see if it is better than the lame CS4 PPro which didnt work in any of my computyers. Compared to that CS3 is a gem.
So I was eagerly waiting to download and see the difference in workflow as far as PPro is concerned. Then I am told that there is nothing I can try. I felt fooled. May be just me.

Jayson,
I think that something has been put into the water supply. I cannot imagine how the unveiling of CS5 at NAB could bring things out of the woodwork, but it seems to have happened.
I've been around for a lot of unveilings, but this one seems to have stirred the bottom of the pot.
Maybe it's really Steve Jobs, worrying about FCP and their market share? That, or maybe just the phases of the Moon.

I pre-ordered CS5, and they told me it would ship on April 30th, and I should receive it around May 7th.
Thanks ruzun for the post. An April 30th date is being corroborated by others... http://bit.ly/bMmPaH Terry White even commented on it yesterday.
I think Harm is on the money. I had pre-ordered my upgrade at Newegg.com and it shows it shipping May 3rd. As I said in the Photoshop forum, I'm not etching this in my cornerstone, but it certainly looks promising!
However, today saw J&R Music World selling the upgrade for $529, and if you search through Bing CashBack, it drops the price to $507 in the end. Just ordered THAT, now cancelling the Newegg Pre-order. If this keeps going we may get this upgrade for $300, lol!
