My crop tool does not work
How do I activate it?
This is my first experience with the Forum and I am thrilled to receive your fast response, Barbara\
I click on the crop icon and drag the icon over the photo and the crop box does not appear .With my Dell scanner, the crop box appears immediately. Using Elements,( Version 3 ) the only way I can crop is to Select the photo and then keep clicking on the crop icon and sometimes a small crop box appears after what seems to me to be 10 minutes and other times, nothing appears. Generally, nothing appears. I give up and print the photos without cropping.
Thanks, Bieco
Can you help with this bit of information, Please?

First, its not really "click & drag" -- its just "click the crop button".
That said, in the editor it seems work ok if you try and drag it, but that is not really what you want. Just click it, let the button back up then
move the cursor over-top of the photo.
There should be no delay in the editor -- I notice a delay if you try and crop in the organizer -- and that one will NOT click+drag, so just click it and wait a couple of seconds.
Personally I don't like the organizer's crop tool, but if I had no other editing to do I would probably use it.
Then delete the prefs: quit the editor, then restart it while holding down ctrl+alt+shift. Keep holding the keys down until you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.
I might add that I prefer to crop with the marquee tool: drag a marquee, then go to Image>Crop.
It's there. Click and hold on the Recompose tool and choose it from the popout menu. Many tools are tool groups with several tools in the same toolbox slot. You can also bring up a particular tool by clicking its keystroke repeatedly till you get the one you want. In the case of recompose/crop, just tap the C key until you see it in the toolbox.
I have Version 3 and would like to know if Version 9 is vastly superior and if I buy it does Photoshop offer telephone help? If yes do they limit you to a few events or do they help for a period of time, say a year? When I called for help I was told that my Version is long gone and if I needed help they charge. I do not remmber how much but I think it was in the neighborhood o f$40 .I have windows XP and my grandson showed me how to use the crop tool which in V.3 IS on the left side
Thanks for the reply to my question
Bieco
