Changes to uploaded pdf

If I upload a pdf, esign it and provide the email addresses for the others, will I get an e-mail if one tries to modify the document before esigning it? When does the blue ribbon appear?

Great question.  The PDF is not exposed in an editable state.  The 'reviewers' that you elect to send the document to can view the document, but cannot download it or change it,

The blue ribbon (certification signature) and signature page is only applied / appended after all the reviewers and the initiator have signed off on the document.

Yes, as John said, people aren't signing the PDF. Recipients see a Flash-based rendition of the document.

The only time you get the PDF is when everyone has finished the signing process. At that time, you (and your recipients) receive an alert email to log in and pick up the document.
