I'm using Photoshop CS 4 for OS X, and a fortnight ago I d/l the goodies that contained the extract filter, and although the extract filter stayed in place (in my filters) for a time (a short time), after which it has now disappeared. I don't want to have to keep going back to my desktop, choosing "goodies, etc" and replacing the extract filter - now the correct d/l file that I have on my desktop is grayed out - it's PHSPCS4...t_ls1.dmg - so I was only able to select it in Photoshop > Preferences > Plug Ins only 1 time and no longer after that one time (in order to replace it after it has disappeared from my Filters.)
And when I finally do get that extract back (which I need help with in getting it back as I've been unable to do - see above), how do I make it stay put in my filters for as long as I have my photoshop installed on my computer?
Thanks in advance.

What are you doing with the dmg-File?
Are you sure you’ve followed the install-instructions correctly?
Right now the dmg file is sitting on my desktop - I was able to install it once, but no longer after that since it's now grayed out when I try to select it.
AFAIK I followed the install instructions correctly - I did this: Photoshop > Preferences > Plug Ins > a dialog box appears with "Additional Plug Ins folder" already check-marked, so I clicked on the "Choose" button > then another dialog box appears, it's called "choose an additional plug ins folder" > desktop > and I try to select the dmg file, but it is grayed out. See screenshot, please.
Once again: What are you doing with the dmg-File?
You are not supposed to link to a dmg! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Disk_Image

What Christoph is trying to tell you is that you actually need to mount that disk image by double clicking on the icon of the dmg file. The contents of the disk image is what you need to install, not the dmg file itself.
Thank you so much! I could not understand what Chris meant about that dmg file. I took your advice and double clicked on the icon of the dmg file, trying to install the extract plus filter, but I got this message (see screenshot)
Next, I tried to open the dmg file > English > goodies > filters, but they're still grayed out (see screenshot)
Having got my first MacBook Pro in July of 2009, I am still a fairly new, first-time mac user. So you guys may have to spell things out for me, please?
