Was beta tester. Didn't get 15% discount - ordered LR3 too soon

Jun 9, 2010 9:43 AM

I made the mistake of ordering Lightroom 3 within hours of it being posted on Adobe site. So now I see beta testers are getting a 15% savings on the full version. I am going through the process of returning my full version because I ordered it "incorrectly".  Then will re-order with the discount code:  "Lightroom3"

I hope that works to get a lower price.

I think you're mistaken here. Beta testers don't get any discounts. Zero, zip.

    Where did you see that?

I just tried the discount code the OP shared and it does apply the discount on the full version ... but not the upgrade version ... though I did not complete the purchase process as I already have LR3 ....

    OK, sorry, you're right.

I looked at my emails from Adobe and I got that one too – I didn't even download the Beta version at all. (I had LR 2).

I made the same mistake.....Adobe announced the release, I ordered the same day, next day I get the email offering the 15% discount for Beta users.

    congratulations Adobe good thinking.......not.

How to pi** off your customers in one easy stroke.

I phoned support, got the run around for 30 mins, the reply I eventually got was "return LR3 when you get it and re-order with the discount code", It will cost me money to return it!!!!!

I suggested that they put the difference back on my credit card, that really confused them, how about cancelling the invoice and billing me for the lower cost...no chance far to easy.....is it me......

Ho hum, gibber gibber whinge whine

    Dear Lightroom beta user:

Thank you for participating in the Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 3 beta program. We appreciate your feedback and continued interest in Lightroom and hope you’ve enjoyed exploring our latest software.

As our thanks, we invite you to be one of the first to fully experience NEW Photoshop Lightroom 3, with an exclusive limited-time 15% savings on your full product purchase.* You must act soon — this offer ends June 18, 2010.

I have not owned LR previous version.

You should not be disclosing this as it usually comes under the NDA and you are not meant to discuss rewards with even those who are also in pre-release.

Are all beta testers who have posted supposed togain a discount on Lightroom 3?

Is this limited to US beta testers? I had an email invitation to be one of the first to purchase LR3 yesterday, but there is no mention of a discount?

    Anyone know???

I ordered to soon as well I didn't read the email carefully enough. I think the discount only applies to a full issue and not an upgrade. shame because I entered the code etc, never got any discount. Also going on holiday and now panicking that I won't be around when it arrives. What made me rush was the note about discount only up to 18th June.

    So read carefully.

German beta testers obviously are not included into the discount offer.

    My eMail, received today, read:

    Adobe Systems GmbH
    Georg-Brauchle Ring 58
    D-80992 München
    www.adobe.de
    Adobe

    Lieber Lightroom Beta-User,

So no need to know how to read German, you will still discern that there is no mentioning of any discount. This discrimination of non-US users I consider highly offensive.

If you're upgrading, buy it at the same time as your CS5 upgrade, and you'll get the $30 off the LR3 upgrade.

That's the same email as I have (except mines in English! ;-) ).

So if you are a European customer, it doesn't look like we will be getting an upgrade? I would like Adobe to at least give us a statement about this, so I can make an informed decision as to whether I purchase the product that I have beta tested or not!

A 15% discount (if it exists) is a significant incentive, as I'm not upgrading, but am considering buying the full LR3 licence.

Come on Adobe, what's the deal???!!!

You could always try sticking the code in in the relevant place in the shopping cart for your region, and see what happens to the price...

    For anyone interested!

Jumped onto live chat support today, but no joy in gaining a discount code. Just ended up by being told to call 800-833-6687, which isn't a lot of use, as that's a US number, and I'm in the UK, see:

'in order to apply for the discount on your purchase, you'll have to contact our phone support at 800-833-6687 for further assistance.
Since we are into chat support we have limited access on our applications to check for the Discounts on the price. '

Finally, it seemed to work! Discount applied. This time, I made sure that I lohgged in, changed the region to United Kingdom, then went to Adobe Store. Entered the promo code, and discount applied.

    Happy now!
