For me, when the Configurator Panel is open common keyboard commands for tools such as the brush or patch tool (any of them) no longer work. There is a brief pause, it switches to the tool you want, and then it reverts back to the tool you were using. Holding the key down will keep it visible, but let go and it reverts back to the tool you were using.
This totally sucks as I've grown quite fond of Configurator. It's a real time saver. Too bad they didn't incorporate a customizable tool panel right into Photoshop...
But at any rate, something seriously wrong here and I can no longer use Configurator 2.0. Hopefully there will be an update...but I won't hold my breath.
Suggestions welcome...I did create a panel from scratch just to see if that would fix things up. It didn't. I tried a panel without any keyboard commands on it (since that is what is effected) and that didn't do anything either.
Lance
There's a hotfix which works for Tom, and I'd also send it to Lance.
If anyone have similar problem, please post your email address here. I'll send you the hotfix.
But I still can't reproduced it on my machine, so if anyone have some clue about what is the root cause, please let me know.

Hi,
I attached hotfix here for others meet similar issue.
This issue is not a common issue for all installation, only observed on some machines, so you only need apply it, if you have similar issue.
Since I can't attach a swf file in this forum, so I rename it to gif. So please download below file, and rename to hotfix_callback.swf.
About how to apply the hotfix.
There're two options you can choice,
1) Only Apply the hotfix for a special panel.
Download the hotfix_callback.swf.gif, rename to hotfix_callback.swf.
Goto your exported panel folder, for example Plug-ins/Panels/<MyPanelName>/Content folder.
Replace "<MyPanelName>" to your panel name.
Rename file <MyPanelName>.swf to <MyPanelNane>.swf.bak
Copy hotfix_callback.swf to this foler, and rename to <MyPanelName>.swf
2) Apply the hotfix to Configurator, then all exported panels in the future will have this fix.
On Mac, locate "Configurator 2.0" in the finder. right click the mouse, select "Show Package Content",
Goto "bundles/PHSP-12" folder, rename "PHSP12Template.swf" to "PHSP12Template.swf.bak".
And copy hotfix_callback.swf to this foler, and rename to PHSP12Template.swf
The Root cause of this issue is Configurator 2.0 used a Callback API to sync the state of toolbox buttons states from Photoshop, but this API may be instable in some speical situation. This hotfix removed the callback.
It will lost a minor feature, if you drag some tool buttons onto the panel, and when you switch tool in PS, the tool button on the Configurator panel can't sync state with PS. But when you click on them, they still can work.
Does anyone still met this kind problem with Configurator 3 in Photoshop CS6?
if yes, could you please provide your envioromen information to us?
The more detailed information we can get, the more easier for us to find the root cause.
1: Does this problem only occurs on your Windows 7 64-bit OS? Does this problem occurs on other OS like Mac or Windows 7 32 bit?
2: Which Photoshop Version do you use? If this problem occurs on your Phtoshop CS5 and now also occurs on your Photoshop CS6 version,do you have some other special plug-ins installed for your Photoshop?
3: Can you provide us the Configurator panel you used? Please provide us the design panel (including the $PanelName.gpc file and the $PanelName.accests folder) and the whole exported panel folder in the "$Photoshop_Installation_Path/Plugins/Panels/$PanelName
Or some other things you think can help us.
Thanks
Yes, I still have this issue with Configurator 3 and Photoshop CS6. It happens on Windows 7 64-bit operating system (both 64-bit and 32-bit versions of Photoshop CS6). I do not have any other plug-ins installed.
I am going to install CS6 on my laptop (also Windows 7 64-bit) and see if I have the same problem. I can also try it on my macbook pro at home later.
I also had the same problem with Configurator 2/Photoshop CS5, but the hotfix mentioned above worked for me. I know it is probably more complicated than I know, but if you figured out the problem and how to fix it in CS5, can't you just apply the same fix for CS6?
Jack
--- Update: Installed CS6 on my laptop (Windows 7 64-bit) and do not have the problem on it. It just happens on my desktop.
Desktop specs:
Dell Dimension 9200
Windows 7 64-bit OS
Intel Core2 2.4GHz
4 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS Display Adapter

I am experiencing this exact same problem in PS CS 5.1. . I can select different tools from the toolbar but cannot use hot keys without the tool reverting back to the prior one. This started a couple of weeks ago - I had been using this for some time without any issues. This problem only impacts my 64 bit version of PS. I have the 32 bit version installed on the same machine and it works fine. The machine is an Athlon Phenom x4 955, 16 gigs ram, Nvidia GTS 250 video card, Windows 7 x64.
I looked at the fix but cannot find the .swf file it is intended to replace. I looked in both the program folder and in user /appdata folders and found plugins / panels folders but there are no files or subdirectories in them. They are empty. I have not installed configuator and I have not set up custom panels. Is there any current fix to this problem that works?
Thanks.
I managed to solve this problem by booting PS while holding down the CNTRL - ALT - SHIFT keys. This prompted PS to ask if I wanted to delete the configuration file. I did and the problem is gone. PS is at its default configuration but that is not a problem for me as I have no customizations to speak of.
