Hi,
Is there any way, by which i can stop browsers from saving the images from the webpages.
I had seen in some websites, the browsers can't even 'right-click', so they don't get the option of saving the images. But as a turnaround, i can simply drag and drop the image directly to my desktop. Another option is to just save the webpage, by which all the images gets saved on a separate folder.
So, is there any option, by which we can restrict the browser from saving the iamges.
Thanks for your time

No.

Whatever you try, a workaround (to save images) is always available.
To view a web page, browsers always download images to the browser cache anyway (so it's stored on the visitor's hard drive anyway).
In Firefox, Tools > Page Info > Media > Save As

No. Don't upload any image which you don't want visitors to save.

As John has already told you, the answer is no.
This is a question that comes up so often that it's in the Dreamweaver FAQ. The article there suggests one solution (watermarking) that can be effective.
Hi John Waller & David_Powers,
I was hoping that there would be definitely a way for restricting. So answer 'No' was a bit shocking for me.
I understand that by some way one can download the images, but atleast like in 'Facebook' and 'Orkut' were we cannot right-click on top of the images, how do they do it.
If i can restrict the 'right-click' option, atleast i can restrict to some extent.
Thanks for your time.
-Amstos.

Plenty of methods

but they're all a waste of time: they're annoying and easy to circumvent.

You're probably using Internet Explorer. Other browsers don't permit disabling right-click.
There is nothing shocking about this. It's the way the internet works. To view an image, a browser must download it from the remote server. If you don't want others to have access to your photos, don't put them on the web.
Hi David, It wouldn't be shocking for the professional webdeigners. But, its a bit shocking for me, because i am not a professional webdesigner, designing my own website. It's just that the technology has so evolved, i thought there would an option.
You are right, its just how websites work. Thanks for your time. I appreciate your answers.
