Hi everyone,
after upgrading to CS5 on my work Mac, all of my favourite keyboard shortcuts (which are not custom) seems not to work. Here are the basics functions I´m missing:
cmd+space = ZOOM IN
tab when resizing objects = keeps the aspect ratio/proportions og the object
holding alt then dragging objects = duplicate them
These are very important funtions for me, but they don´t work for some reason. Scaling objects and keeping the same proportions is now a much longer process than I am used to.
Would be glad if someone have a solution to this problem. The shortcuts are not listet in the properties, so I don´t know where to find them either.
Best regards from Norway!
They are listed through the Edit Menu at the bottomEdit>Keyboard Shortcuts.
Also you can try this to reset them
1. Quit Illustrator.
2.Go to User/username/Library/Preferences/ Adobe illustrator CS4 Settings and trash the settings folder, the whole folder not just the contents of the folder..
3. Start Illustrator. Illustrator creates a new preferences file.
Or you might have some software and or haxy install that is in conflict for some Entourage causes this problem for others Quicken.
Hi Wade,
thanks for your reply. All of the sudden things have started to work again for no obvious reason, which has happened before. It then all of the sudden stops to work again, without me restarting the software or anything. Right now though, it´s working.
I have Entourage running at all time, and will try to shut it down the next time it appears. I will try deleting the settings folder. By this you mean the folder inside "Adobe Ilustrator CS5 Settings"? The folder inside is called "en_GB". By deleting this it will appear after restarting the software if I understood correctly?
I never had this problem with the CS4 suit, and the problem appears in both Illustrator and Photoshop.
Just wanted to chime in and say that I had the same problem for a while. In my case, iTunes was hanging, and once I force quit it, everything was okay in Illustrator. I don't know enough (i.e. anything) about processes to say what was happening, but if several other people have experienced the same issue, it's enough to warrant investigation and, I hope, a fix.
This is very interesting. I pretty much have all the software listed here running all at once, but the only thing I do not have right now is Delicious Firefox add-on, since I recently reinstalled Firefox. I have hard to understand how that can interfer with CS, but what do I know
.
Since more users are experiencing this behaviour I really think it should be looked into. Thanks for all answers! Next time I will try to shut down potencially interfaring software.
hello,
i've been having the same problem for quite a month and it's been really annoying.
i was restarting the computer every time it happened, but then i realized that it would only happen when i switch windows between firefox and illustrator.
so the thing that works for me is: close firefox when your shortcuts stop working.
adobe should really fix this annoying bud huh?!
For me, whenever I start Illustrator, my keyboard layout at the OS level is changed from EN (US) to French (Canada), which kills all shortcuts and makes typing text into the text fields pretty tough! Once I change it back to the EN (US) everything is fine until I close and re-launch Illustrator, when the same thing happens again.
I'm on Windows XP sp3 with a clean CS5 Web Premium install (no Adobe products were installed prior to CS5 because my computer was re-imaged a week or so prior to receiving CS5).
I have investigated this problem some more, after finding out thru this forum at it's caused by some interferance with other software/plugins. I now have everything going as usual, that includes iTunes and Firefox, but I have not installed the Delicious plugin for Firefox - and it seems to work. I have not experienced the problem thru the last days, which is very unusual in the positive manner
.
The solution must be that if you have this problem or similar problems, it's probably caused by other software. try closing on by one, and restart CS4/5. Sort out which software is causing the problem.
Weird think is that on my home computer, also an iMac with the exact same configuration as my work computer, this problem does not appear with any software installed. I have all plugins running in Firefox at all time, and every software is exactly the same as work...
Thanks!
