Import .doc while offline

Jul 20, 2010 8:43 AM

Hello,

I am attempting to work in desktop mode (offline).  When I attempt to import a .doc into a project I am told that that "operation is only allowed online."

Is this "working as intended"?

Thanks,

Jim G

    Hi,

This is as designed. We support importing of doc/rtf/docx/text import only when you are in Online mode.

I feel this should be an offline feature as well.  A large amount of my work is offline as I am constantly on the go.  Importing files from other writers makes thing much easier but not having Internet all the time makes it hard.  The collaboration process is the most valuable part of this program but not all the writers I work with are on Story yet.

    Hi,

we have entered a feature request (F44447) in our product backlog to support this feature.

    Thanks

You can ask people you work with to try out story as its completely free and a product in development. Your suggestion would be really helpful to us.

Although doc, text and pdf imports are supported in online mode only you can import final draft and movie magic documents in offline mode as well. Till the time either online mode or simple copy/paste can solve your purpose.

    Thanks
