Tool to check CPU usage of flash banners

Jul 28, 2010 6:45 AM

Hi all

I am looking for a tool or software that could help me to determine if a flash ad uses too much cpu.

I work in a big site, and we upload dozens of new ads every day. we receive the ads usually from the advertising agencies as a link to embed. some of those ads are not build well, and they raise the CPU of our users' computers, especially of those that have weak computers. It there a good way to determine which ads will hurt the cpu, except from testing them on a crappy old computer?

Thanks

Ilana

I, and countless other webdevelopers/webmaster/ad-managers must have the same problem. I'm looking for a tool where I could play a flash-file and the tool would give me some sort of standardized unit-measurement that would let me compare and document problems. X,X million CPU-cycles or something?

Don't know if this it too late but we have a tool that does exacty that. You can check it out at advalidation.com

We run all the creatives on our servers and give you a report with CPU, clicktag, FPS, Audio, Flash Version, Action Script Version, http connections and much more. You can even set it up to validate against your ad specifications.

    Best,
