Hi, i'm currently in the process of designing my portfolio,
it's goin to be a simple clean 1 page portfolio site.
The thing is i'm also planning on creating a blog about web design etc,
the design of the blog is going to be a bit more livelier than the portfolio.
What i'm trying to decide now is wether it's a better idea to have
2 seperate sites with different names or to have them both on the same domain
eg. portfolio at mysite.com and the blog at blog.mysite.com or mysite.com/blog
i'd prefer to have them on the same domain but is that a good or bad thing to do?
Any advice appreciated
Thanks
Daniel
Daniel,

Definitely the latter: it will support recognition, and make it much easier and managable for you. Subdomain or folder is a matter of preference, but it is easier/less complicated to work with folders, both in your application and in connexion with the webhost; you may want to use subdomains for separate/independent aspects of your site.
I agree with Jacob. It sounds like the site will be an extension of your portfolio. Therefore, the rest of the site will be like a demonstration of what you can do. As for the recommendation on using folders (www.woursite.com/x) versus subdomains (x.yoursite.com), some folks say the folder method will be recognized better by the search engines, but the jury is still out. Personally, I would go with the folder method.
