That's interesting. I had switched hard drives and copied all the CS5 apps and supporting files over manually hoping it would save me time instead of re-installing. Both InDesign and Illustrator ran fine, no problems, only Photoshop gave me an error that some supporting files were missing. When I got the update error for Illustrator then I reinstalled. I was sure I copied over the prefs file too, and even so, once I launched Illustrator after the initial hard drive move you'd think it would create a new one if it were missing or at least give me an error? Hmmmmmm...

I'm running into this error when switching between Illustrator and Flash - this has only happened after the recent update.

Also, within Flash, I don't have an option to Paste "using Illustrator Import preferences", and can only paste as a bitmap, which does not help in this situation at all.

Any help resolving this would be awesome.

Also, does anyone know of a way to roll back the update until this issue has been addressed? Thanks!

I'm on my way out the door, so I haven't had a chance to check for that file. Any ideas?

It has not been moved or cloned; everything was installed to the default location and has not been moved or cloned at all.

What about the bug when saving from Illustrator CS5 to AFP network share ??

For anyone not in the loop: When saving a file from Illustrator CS5 to AFP, file is created and saved, but remains hidden for some reason. You have to manually change the hidden flag from Terminal (chflags).

Edit: Just installed the update, and the bug is still present.

I am also getting an error with the 15.0.1 update installation.

The installer provides the following 'helpful' information that I can contact support with.

'installation failed'

I ran the adobe support application, and get the information 'no problems found at this time'

I tried to log a support case., but got an error page when I submitted.. stating simply 'error page - contact support'

quite what I am supposed to do now I am not sure.

I did use XSlimmer to clean up my applications at one point after the CS5 install; I don't remember if I cleaned the languages or not. I'm going to try and restore that (XSlimmer has the option to keep backups in case something goes wrong), and if that doesn't work I'll uninstall/reinstall.

One quick thing though: I have the Master Collection, will this complicate the uninstall/reinstall process to do just one app? I'd rather not uninstall and reinstall the entire suite.

I finally got home about an hour ago and was able to use XSlimmer to restore Illustrator to its original state; after that I ran the updater and it succeeded with no problems. Thanks for the help!

Hi Anirudh,

No I have never used the application you describe, nor am I using any kind of application of that nature.

The only apps I use and have installed are audio applications (and associated plugins)

website development apps, video editing apps, office apps and CS5 apps.

The only thing which happened recently, and seemed to cause problems was when I installed Open Office to use the database app, and then uninstalled it after I realised it didn't do what i wanted.

This seemed to cause problems of some nature ( i can't remember precise details as it was a month or so ago) - which caused me to reinstall some programmes.

About a year ago I used a programme called monolingual, which ended up causing no end of problems with Adobe Creative Suite 4. I also used Onyx for a while back then, which also caused problems with Adobe products.

As a direct result of this, I uninstalled both of these programmes, and haven't used them for at least a year, and certainly not since installing CS5.

It does seem odd that Adobe seems far more susceptible to these kinds of programmes than any other I have used.

I uninstalled CS5 Ilustrator,and then reinstalled about a month ago, after it seemed to be having problems exporting to PDF - until I realised that the addition of the new (to me)  'print' option for layers was causing the problem (as it is turned off by default on install - with the net effect that all pdfs output by Illustrator CS5 are blank)

I finally tracked down the solution to this on a forum.. So my previous uninstall and reinstall wasn't actually necessary.

I'll now uninstall CS5 Illustrator and reinstall and see where that gets me and report back to this forum
