application conflicts?

I use CS4 all day, 5 days a week on Mac. I've been running into strange "errors" more and more lately.

 

It's very common for me to lose the functionality of my spacebar---like to quickly move around/zoom in and more frustrating, I lose the ability to move a crop as I am sizing it.

 

another problem is I lose live previews of how something is changing my image. ie no live preview for curves adjustment or shadow/highlight adjustment.

 

just recently; not only is the live preview gone, but the entire image goes white. even if I flatten the adjustment layer the image is all white, then if I zoom in and back out the image shows with the adjustment layer applied.

 

I've heard of conflicts with Entourage, so thats what I'm thinking....I have entourage open at all times, as well as firefox and safari.

 

does anyone know of any helpful information about my issues? thank you

    You might want to do a first aid repair on your Mac. It sounds more

    OS the software. Your permissions might be hosed, whenever I have prev

    iew issues that is the first place I go.

    Additionally to BearHNC’s proposed repairing of permissions it might be worth a try to trash prefs, validate fonts and perform other routine System maintenance tasks.

     

    And do the problems occur with OpenGL turned on and off?
