Advice for improvement of my website

Sep 11, 2010 12:07 PM

Hi,

I made last year a redesign of my website (Rovinj accommodation).
I would like to have some opinion and advice to improve the quality of this website.

Thanks!

Just my personal thoughts (I know everyone is different in tastes etc..) but immediately I thought the blue background with the same colour blue main is too confusing because of the white border around the main content - its as if you've split it up but it still merges together when scanning the page.

Maybe try make the main bit and the background merge into one complete page more naturally as it were, or make their backgrounds contrast a bit (but not over the top, something that complements the blue).

Which leads me to another thought that the yellow text on blue is a bit much as thats almost ultra contrast like white writing on a black background is (blue links on blue background are also confusing).

There also seems to be a bit too much going on in the right hand side, plus the wide links on the left (both of these columns together are coming close to taking nearly 1/2 of your page up, so the actual information your looking for - displayed in the middle makes the page seem really crammed in) - especially with the large logo and photo at the top, plus more links under that with a totally different background style seems to create a bit of information overload!

    I Agree.

A white background will make a huge difference.

    More spacing is also needed.

How wide is the website? I think it could be wider...

    I agree with the others:

    • white background for content
    • this would mean black text and no more yellow headings (I vote for blue ones)
    • left column smaller

and for the font I think youre fine, its readable and a correct size.

    Hope it helps.
