Save Illustrator CS5 file as Illustrator v.7.0

Sep 28, 2010 2:49 AM

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forums here and tried searching to see if I could find a solution (as well as googling) but I must be using the wrong search terms or I am the only person who needs to save a file way back when.

I have Illustrator CS5 (64bit machine) but I need to save the file as an Illustrator v.7.0 to be able to import it into another program which will not accept any other version. argh!! hair ripping moment.

However I don't have an option to save as version 7.0 and so I am at a loss. I have the option of version 3 and then it jumps to version 8+.

Would appreciate any thoughts on this.

Thanks in advance.

Zoe

Did you try saving as v3 and see if that works. If not, though I think it should, then try saving as an eps or pdf and see if that will place.

You could try FreeHand. IIRC it exports either AI6 or 7.

    Zoe,

You aren't by chance trying to import into Masterworks II are you? I've run into the same problem as you trying to import a Cs5 vector into a program which requires Illustrator 7 format. Did you ever find a solution?
