reverse build dvd

this is a wierd one, but after we have done all we have done and

built the dvd and deleted all the files then 5 yrs later we need to rip out the menus and rebuild them or use them on something else, not really an encore issue, but anyway we can put it back to encore files or psd's

 

i did say it was a way out there idea

    You want to reauthor a DVD without the assets?

    I think he wants to re-use the assets, like the menus, from a previously authored DVD without the original files.

    yes indeed. i did look into this a couple of years ago, and i am sure

    there was something available on the mac, but  i have windows.

     

    drag a dvd out throw it throught eh program and you end up with menus title avi title wav. then teh actual movie with the chapters points, surely it can;t be that hard to do?

     

    they have to made in a certain way for a dvd player to read it, so reverse engineering it surely must be do able, at least to some degree

    I believe the program you are looking for is called 'VobBlanker'.

    This program can convert any of the menus to still images (.bmp)...  getting them back into layered psd's with functional buttons will take some work in photoshop.  The documentation is seriously lacking, but you can get the job done with some trial and error.
