If I design a formin InDesign (CS4) and want to put different addressses (and other info) think a postcard/self mailer with subscription expiration dates or somethgn likethat, can this be done wiht information that is on a mainframe computer database? Not sure if I worded that correclty, but basically I want to do a mial merge off a main frame into a form I deisgn in InDesign. I'd like to do this onto a Docutech that runs high volumn. Thank you.
You can use Data Merge, to do this.

Data Merge will do it, but it's EXREMELY inefficient for high volume work like you describe -- you end up with a document with one page for every address, and each one needs to be processed before it's printed. A true VDP solution for the Docutech will allow you to enter the ID file as a template once and merge the address data in the print stream. You may already have that capability...
