Remvoving CS4 prior to installatin CS5

Oct 27, 2010 7:14 AM

I am preparting to install CS5 "Upgrade".   In Adobe folder, CS4 programs are sitting there.

I do not want to instal CS5 programs in the same Adobe folder.   So I plan to uninstall CS4.

Should I deactivate CS4 prior to its uninstallation?   I assume that if CS4 is deactivated, I might encounter a problem with installing CS5 Upgrade.

Please comment.    hummer

Use the Adobe Cleaner Tool to clean up your registry entries

The installer will by default put CS5 in a totally new folder.

This is very useful because many users find it better to have the previous version available in case of problems with CS5. These do occur regularly.

You can remove CS4 when you are completely happy with CS5.

You don't need to uninstall or deactivate CS4 before installing CS5. The installer will make a separate folder. The two versions can live comfortably side by side, and you very well may regret dumping the older version if something in CS5 does not work as you expected and need to go back to CS4 for specific tasks.
