IE8 won't open link in acrobat file

Does anyone know any voodoo ******** that will allow me to open a link in a pdf file within the Internet Explorer 8 browser? Security Settings? Anything?

I am also experiencing this problem.

After some testing I have concluded that it only occurs in IE8 version 8.0.6001 (in 8.0.7600 everything works as expected) with locally hosted files. If I access the same files from a network share (which is considered an intranet site in the IE zones) everything also works.

I have also tried different versions of the Reader, and also with Acrobat, it does not seem to mather what version is being used. Maybe this is a IE8 8.0.6001 bug?

Maybe one of you could post a link to a document that is causing the problem?

I have the latest IE8 and links within pdf files displayed in the browser work fine. I tested with both an online pdf and a local pdf.

ya , works fine for me too. Try and repair Acrobat/Reader installation once.

Can you confirm that this works in IE version 8.0.6001 where the PDF files are located in the internet zone and not the intranet zone?

I have tried with various versions of both Reader and Acrobat (also fresh installs), and none seems to work in this specific IE-version...

works like a charm for me for any kind of PDF on the stated version of IE8. Try to clear the IE cache and temp files. might work.

Confirmed on internet pdf using IE8 version 8.0.6001 to access.

Just checking, but are the hyperlinks http paths originally did they start as UNC paths?

I did confirm that I have 8.0.6001. If this is the only problem, then that's cool. I'll just notify the IT dept. and advise them that we need to upgrade.

I'm confused as to what an http path is. When Acrobat displays the path it shows a path that relies on your own hardwired connection to network drives, not over the Internet. However, it uses forward slahes, rather than backslashes. The files are on a network drive that I have access to via our Intranet, not over the Internet.

I doubt that the version is the issue, but taking advantage of IT assistance seems like the way to go.

I'm a out of my area here, but there may be problem with how the links are interpreted by your system. If others on your network can open the same documents without problems, then there could be issues with how you are mapped to the network. If the pdf links to intranet files were put in as internet links, then Acrobat would not know how to resolve them. There are other potential issues, but it is hard to determine without a test.

As a software junkie, I always try to get updated software for my computer.

I have a similar problem that I am trying to fix. I have an intranet map application(opened in IE) that allows in house users to *click* a feature to open a general Information.pdf about that map feature (ie. street sign). the general information pdf has links to additional pdf's about that sign(inspection reports, etc)
The preferences in Adobe Pro 9.2 are set to open in the program not the web browser because editing capabilities for the users are manditory. So the problem is that when the general information.pdf is opening it opens in an IE temp directory fashion and not in its network location. The link to the additional documents are then looking for those additional documents in a location relative to the temp file location and not the actually document location on the network. Therefore the document/file can not be found.

If we enable the pdf to be opened in the web browser everything works fine but we don't have the adobe pro functionality. Any suggestions or links to related articles would be greatly appreciated.
Also, can adobe pro functionallity be enabled in the adobe IE web browser?
